Hi. I hunted this water buck on the limpopo river. The longest horn is 1" short from Roland Ward minimum entry.

Now that Kuland is a neat looking critter! Thanks for sharing Jerome!

What is the most unusual animal you have hunted?

Hi All!

We all know the common trophies hunters like to hunt such as the dangerous game, or springbok and kudu and the like.

But what unusual animal have you hunted, an animal that is not included on the common trophy list (like maybe a cape fox or aardwolf or honey badger, etc)?

For me, the most unusual animal I have hunted (ok it was in Indonesia and not in Africa :p ) is what is known locally there as the "kalong" (we know them as flying foxes). They make beautiful photos with those wings, and taste surprisingly nice - kind of like a well marinated beef steak.

Let us hear your wild and crazy lists :)

I'm not sure these would qualify as unusual, maybe more unique or not common. 3 of my favorites that come to mind are Aoudad, Axis Deer, and Tahr. All challenging and fun hunts

I didn't intend to hunt porcupine but you take what the bush gives you!

Please share some pictures it would be interesting to see these creatures. Do you shoot them while flying?

Flying fox hunting will really test your patience. We took them with air rifles both while in flight, and also when coming in to land in the tops of the tree (its harder than it sounds..... for example on one day we only managed to shoot down one out of a colony of 1000+, and this was together with the head trainer of the national hunting club in Indonesia) . They are seriously very challenging to hunt. The slightest underfoot noise or missed shot sends the whole colony flying off a few km to another location, and off you go hiking another 10km to catch up with them again. I got some serious exercise from that hahaa!

Trying to be a bridge between Eastern and Western schools of conservation.
From India, based in Hungary.
Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.
