It was just announced today that the U.S. is going to end the requirement to test for Covid before returning to the United States on international flights! The change starts this Sunday, June 12.

Great timing! I took my family to the Cayman Islands 2 weeks ago. Great time! When we tested to come home my wife and daughter tested positive. So we had to quarantine for a week before getting retested. They never had a sniffle. We may be the last Americans who were quarantined on their return home!

Now to state the obvious. Being quarantined at a house with a private pool and beach isn’t exactly doing time in Alcatraz.

The tests don't mean anything much anyway. My girlfriend was coming home from overseas and was starting to develop a cough etc., I encouraged her to get tested exactly the day before her flight. She was negative. She got on the flight and the next day she was home.

At home she got tested and was positive. No fever, just a cough and a sore throat which went away two days later. I had her isolate at the guest wing of the house and she wore a mask whenever she went downstairs. Finally, three days ago she tested negative. I never caught it from her even though both were in the car for 90 minutes coming home from the airport.

For our African trip though in a month or so we will take the Abbott tests with us just in case CDC changes its mind again.
