TSX - You Can't Have It Both Ways!

True, it has to come out by physical scrubbing action, not chemical dissolving for sure. It can build up and then periodically have to be removed. Has anyone seen accuracy improvement, I wonder.
I remember the high praise for moly coated bullets 20 years ago, but they never lived up to the hype.

The only bullet of that era with any kind of coating that WASN'T a huge pain was the Winchester Lubalox, and even that had its issues, just to a lesser extent.

Don't forget the dreaded "teflon" bullets designed specifically for shooting through police officers protective vests.
If I recall, they actually penetrated slightly more in soft armor, and made no difference against plates. But when did reality ever matter to gun control advocates?

This is why I always keep a spare change of clothes to include an undershirt and underwear in my carry on...

It took one 10 day trip to Tanzania where KLM lost my bag (didnt recover it for almost 2 months) to break me of the habit of putting everything in my checked luggage..

Thank God for the woolworth store in Dar es Salaam.. otherwise I would have been running around naked after the first couple of days.. but, even with woolworths I was only able to source 1 pair of really shitty pants and 2 additional shirts, and a pack of underwear...

Its sorta difficult to clothe a 6'4", 265lb American outside of the US.. lol..

finding ammo would have been easier..
I’ve learned to pack quite well. I try to make sure I can do a full hunt from back pack if I need to. I do wish I was size Medium instead of XL so I could pack more in back pack. That trip I rotated between pants in day and shorts at night. They washed my pants every other evening and were mostly dry by morning. More importantly though I had neck gaiter, boot gaiters, wide brim hat and a few others to make hunt comfortable. Having a 375 H&H and not a 375 Ruger was a definite advantage for that trip. For ammo though I was glad to have anything. It was piecemeal from different clients. I shot everything with 11 rounds of federal 300 gr blue box soft points and was glad to have it.

Does anyone use HBN to limit copper accumulation by all copper bullets, tsx's
I use HBN on bullets, from Tubb. Some bullets don't accept the HBN as well, and need to be scuffed and cleaned in a tumbler to remove manufacturing lubricants.

I also use a coppering deagent in the powder. Combined, I get less copper fouling in my match rifles.

I've also done the "barrel treatment" vs the "bullet treatment" in a couple hunting rifles. It seems to help, but I don't have a sufficient sample size.

It definitely is much better than the moly suck was.

I'd also add my cold bore clean barrel shots were more consistent than before. (Or perhaps the fouled shots were not as "fouled" as before)

There are a lot of good comments here, I think we have an amazing choice of quality bullets today. I've shot a lot of Barnes TSX and TTSX in many different calibers, my main comment would be that all of the Barnes bullets have shot well with great accuracy and grouping.

My hunting experience on dangerous game with Barnes TSX is limited but includes all one shot kills on cape buffalo and a lot less one shot kills on Australian water buffalo in .375 300gr, most animals shot close in under 100 yards, bullet performed as expected, I shot one cape buffalo at 225 yards, the recovered round had much less expansion, I assume it was due to the velocity drop.

I've shot .30 cal 150 gr TSX in .308 and felt that the bullets were too hard for medium soft skinned game (maybe little expansion), I have since moved down to .30 cal 130gn TTSX in .308, I hope to have some real use feedback on this in the next few months. I can see where users are recommending to drop down to a slightly lighter bullet and pick up speed for mid size calibers for soft skin game.

I have to say I'm still a big fan of soft point bonded bullets such as Swift A frames, Hornady DGX bonded and Nosler Partition. I've recently moved to .416 Rem for buffalo and similar, I will be shooting Barnes TSX, Federal with Swift A Frames or Hornady DGX Bonded, all 400gn ammunition. I'm very impressed with the .416 compared to the .375 and believe that any of these quality bullets will work well.

I have to comment that Barnes and Hornady have done a great job with availability over the last 5 or 6 years. I'd like to be able to comment about all the other great bullet options but I deliberately limit my bullet selection to a few as there is just such a large selection available today. Once something works well for me I try to standardize to 1 or 2 bullet options for each hunting caliber.

This is indeed the case, and I myself have been using this dating service for a long time – www.flirtini.com , and it is there that I have been able to find many beautiful and attractive women who want to communicate with me! I could not have imagined that in this day and age it would be so easy and quick to find a romantic relationship, and all thanks to this website!
Makes sense. Barnes are super reliable, but yeah, lighter TTSX can work better on softer game. I agree—once you find a bullet that performs, it’s smart to stick with it.

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
