Trophy shipping costs

Sick! That’s like my dog ate my homework,I would be at home sick if i had a crate arriving! Have you looked inside yet? Seriously though hope you feel better. Post some pictures when you get a chance.

Just curious where your crate shipped into customs, and air freight costs.
then you had it trucked to your taxidermists?
i (hopefully) a week or so away from delivery

Atlanta. $2300 for shipping. Another $1600 for clearing, delivery to my taxidermist.

My crate of skulls, horns and hides is shipping this week from African Trophy Exporters (Port Elizabeth, RSA). Dip and pack was $1375. Crate weight is 77 kg, and crate dimensions are 125 cm x 70 cm x 50 cm. Cost to ship to Chicago is just under $1500. No cost on clearing the crate yet of course but it'll all end up here in Cincinnati eventually.

Just put out a post on my totals, air cargo with Badger from SA to Seattle WA was $2250, clearing was $1001 with Coppersmith Seattle and $548 to DHX for sea cargo to Honolulu.
My crate was 104 kg and 42x34x43in 185kg volumetric.
Included 3 wall pedestal mounts, 3 Euros, and 5 skins.
Should all be arriving next week and ready for pickup before Christmas!

Did they give you an estimated time for delivery by freighter from Seattle to Hawaii? I’ve seen a couple of posts that have said clearance was $1000 +. I’ve never paid more than $500 for clearance and this included shipments with CITES and USDA inspections for primates and swine. I’ve used D&L in Chicago (1) and Coppersmiths in Atlanta (3). The most recent was this past August.

Sail time is 5 days from Seatac to HNL, I'm guessing it's be a few days after than before its ready for dock pickup. I'm not sure if the $1000 for clearing was a a great deal or not
I've read at least a couple of horror stories on here from folks who've had their cargo stuck in Turkish Air storage for a week at $195/day, so just happy Coppersmith was able to clear it quickly. Even if it had to sit in their storage facility, the cost is only $35 week.
I'll try to attach my clearing bill, so you can see a breakdown of the fee's.

My (2? - no reason why) crates finally arrived in arrived in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago (MOZ>RSA>USA). (A Buffalo and a Baboon).

So far, $4,800 in dipping, packing and freight. (207 pounds).

In 2007, I had 8 trophies (shoulder mounts) done RSA for $1,200. An additional $600 in total shipping costs. Complete cost for taxidermy AND all shipping was $1,800.

I'm pretty sure that it's gonna cost me a total of at least $8,000 to get a shoulder mount of a buffalo and a shoulder mount of a baboon done now.

Putinflation, I suppose...

I got Turkish Air storage @ $195/day!

The Coppersmith guy told me that the American Airlines storage in ATL was, literally, 10 feet away and they charge about $10/day.

So, I'm approaching $5,000.00 for a buffalo and baboon taken in Mozambique.

Mr. Taxidermy Man is going to be small potatoes, compared to all of these shipping costs.

is Coppersmith handling everything and if he is then why did he not handle it on arrival, maybe you should be telling him to pay the bill

You had 8 shoulder mounts done for $1,200? Thats $150/shoulder mount. Never heard of a shoulder mount being that cheap. That's a deal for sure!

My crate was delivered Dec 28th from Houston. Zingela exported them by air freight 7 large wall pedestal mount and Zebra rug cost $5400, and Coppersmith fees and delivery to San Antonio was $1350. Took 6 days to be delivered once it touch down in Houston and went thru inspection. Vanessa at Coppersmith was great.

Saw a report that shipping rates should be returning back closer to pre COVID levels this year. The report said that although we shouldn't expect exact same levels due to fuel increases, we should be moving closer to normality. Hope that this comes to fruition.

Hope that is true since I have a shipment that should leave South Africa towards the end of this month. Perhaps too late to help my cost but we'll see.
