Trophy Rooms… lets see some ideas

Im currently closing in the garage and vaulting the ceilings in the room. I would love to see what’s paint and flooring everyone picked. Planning plywood behind drywall. Ceiling will be 8’10 at lowest part. Will have lot of waterfowl and then all of our plains game from our past trip to SA,

I put a trophy room addition on a couple years ago. I went with ship lap walls. I don’t recall the paint color. I decided on stained concrete floors. I’m very happy with the end results. It’s starting to fill up fast.

This is our 2 car garage closed in. We have hardwood floors and a chair rail that my wife and I did ourselves. I wish I had 9 or 10 foot walls to go along with the vaulted ceiling’s. One day I’m going to put some type of wood on the ceiling and improve the lighting.

Here are a few from my basement. Light tan/beige colored walls to help the mounts stand out. Stained concrete floor.

My great room. House was built with taxidermy in mind. 3/4 inch plywood behind the sheet rock. 22 foot to the ceilings. Hardwood floors and cypress wood ceilings.

Hello all. I've been a long time reader of Africahunting and learned so much. Thank you for the amazing stories and pictures. I went on my first safari in July of this year at Limcroma. Had a great time and took 8 animals between my son and myself. We've run out of room in our house and are building a stand alone addition that will be part trophy room and part man cave with pool table, shuffle board, and TV. The plans call for a 30x40' room. 14' Cathedral ceilings that peak out at about 21'. And the addition will have a closet and bathroom.

A few more. All this is soon to be re-arranged. I have a taxidermy shipment coming in 2 weeks from my 2022 safari. That will include buffalo, sable, lechwe, nyala, bushbuck and a couple of skulls to include baboon and oryx.

As for wall color, stay in the very light earth tone spectrum- light beige to olive. Although the grays are popular right now, they don't look good with animals on that color. Floor- stained concrete or hardwood/vinyl flooring with a natural, darker wood. Ceilings are always interesting but here the biggest deal is lighting options vs color. Lots and lots of lighting that can be controlled with dimmer switches.

Room interior is 24’ x 30’ the safe room interior is 10’ x 10’

I plan on going with a dark grey wall color for my new trophy room. Similar to this with some walnut stained wood. This is Michael Waddels trophy room(screenshot from youtube)

Erongo Taxidermy in Otavi mounted the Dik Dik. I would use them again.
