Trophy room - wall colour

For the record my choice would also have been the greens…Mrs Rarebreed had other ideas. lol!!!

We did part of the great room in the same green. Again, I thing it looks great with art. Please note @Rare Breed the absence of animals. I was given freedom in the guest house/ trophy room, but am purely a consultant in the main house.

Natural light is the best on trophy’s in my opinion. But a consideration should be fading. My dad had a beautiful built in gin cabinet with some mounts around it. After 20 years the half of the gin stocks and the mints had faded noticeably from the sun coming in the large window. I think a wax protection regularly applied might have helped this but I’m not sure.

Jay something to consider.

I didn’t really have the option of color on the walls. Good thing is I get solid wood everywhere. This is a morning picture so the east facing windows bring lots of light. Windows are triple glazed with Low E coating on two surfaces with the addition of a solar blocking film on the inside, so I’m blocking pretty much all the UV rays that cause fading. I was in the window business.

I'm going with the dark blue/gray and walnut paneling in my new trophy room.

I got the idea from Waddells trophy room and like it a lot.

I am closely following this. Right now we are choosing paint colors for our new home.

Ive seen a few pics of Fiona Capstick’s place and it is very close to a mint green, maybe between sage and mint.

Mine are all lighter and neutral. I really like very dark walls IF proper accent lighting is installed.

Thanks folks. I think we’ll just go an off white like and play it safe

I did very light grey on #1 pine shiplap with a 3/4" plywood backer board. It is a little pricey, but it can handle any trophy!

My light grey is almost white, and I prefer it over the off white. It was a safe choice, but you have more decor options later with a neutral color.

@Franco , who did the rhino mount?
I really like your color combination!
Wildlife Gallery.

Thanks, this was the first time in 28 years of marriage I was not overruled on my choices.

During the remodel of our last home my wife would ask for my input on color which would always end the same way - "No, I think this other one is better", for a parade of reasons I would never have considered.

I finally told her to quit wasting my time by pretending I actually had a say.

Perhaps we should start a thread on how many husbands get to make a decision on paint color.

Thanks folks. Sounds like dark green seems to be a common theme if going for a solid colour. Might be the case that I’ll have to improve the lighting in the room if I’m going with the colour the other half likes
I did the dimmable led lights that had an adjustable color temperature. You can choose from warm, neutral, or cool (2700K to 6500K). I prefer the switch on the side of the lighting fixture and not a phone app for adjusting the color temperature of the lights. I added 4 times as many lights as an average well lighted room on multiple dimmers. This allows you to get the best-looking lighting temperature for the wall color, animals, and decor. If you decide you don't like the color temperature, then you can change it.

Room size and decor style has a lot to do with the best color choices. Small rooms feel even smaller with dark colors and small rooms feel bigger with bright colors (whites and pastels). Big rooms with warmer colors create more intimacy. Big rooms with deep dark colors look more sophisticated/formal and feel smaller/intimate. Most people choose light colors to make the room feel bigger.

The various shades of green are growing on me. Does anyone have any waterfowl mounts on the greens? I just was wandering how the multiple colors of birds would go with them.

Any earth tone color will be great and the variety of hues are almost endless.

Here's a few pics I snapped quickly so you can see the different wall colors. I believe you asked about blue initially. Currently, I have 3 (no 4 now that I think about it) different rooms where the trophies are spread out as the hunting trips have tallied up. I will eventually consolidate into 1 trophy room in my retirement home but that will be a few years. I always watch closely these threads on trophy room design, etc... for that eventual build. Cheers

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
