We have started what, hopefully will become a suitable trophy room. Rather than construct a stand-alone building, we opted, since there are only two of us in the house, to take a couple upstairs rooms and combine them into a trophy "space".

Two closets and a bathroom were removed from a bedroom and game room, and the wall separating them was opened. A second bedroom, separated by the stairs, will become my office and trophy overflow if necessary.

A balcony was added to provide a cigar smoking space and access for larger trophies. The plan is to add a fireplace at a later date.

Here's some shots of the beginning remodel:

First entrant: Rhino on the move

Ferdinand (my wife's idea) arrived a couple months ago and has been patiently waiting in my shop for his big day.

The guys built a platform to support him and we used a skytrac to lift him up and onto the balcony. From there, we simply rolled him in and moved him around until we found the perfect spot.

We had a few more trophies stashed in my office so we decided to see how they look.

Beautiful, keep it coming. (y)

You're going to need a bigger room. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I found putting plywood behind the finished walls allows for hanging trophies anywhere desired. Your trophies look great. Keep us updated

That was the first step in the build. All the existing sheet-rock was removed, walls modified, and all were lined with plywood. The wainscot paneling and sheet-rock where applied over the plywood.

As you stated, trophies can be mounted anywhere.

Looks like you are well on the way. I do hope that the layout allows you to see some of your favorite trophies from your office desk. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses!

p.s. It appears that your workers are spending too much time playing on their cellphones while "on the clock." I would dock their pay!

Unfortunately the office is separated by a stairwell, but there is a connecting hallway.

Yes, it does appear that way - they were actually texting their respective wives - showing them pictures.

This is great, thanks for sharing!

OK, then dock their pay but only 1/2 as much.

Congratulations on seeing a vision through and a great looking room. When is the party and are we invited? I must warn you, most of us aren't housebroke yet. Lol

Fun project and well done-congratulations on a very cool display area. Looks like you found the “perfect spot” for Ferdinand

Ferdinand looks great !

What height on the ceilings?

Ok first of all...I'm in for the journey. Secondly, we need more topics like this on the forum. Third, I want to hear more about the carved leg bones and who did that for you? Any costs and time involved to get that done? If you would rather share that offline, just let me know. Thanks! Rhino looks great.

Great job @Franco

I like the wall colour.

Following with interest.

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John buzzardhilllabs@hotmail.com
NRA benefactor, areas hunted, add congo, Mozambique3, Zambia2
Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
You can see them in herds of a 100 plus together.

This excellent ram was taken with one of our previous client this past season.
