Moving some trophies to the basement man cave but the largest are still in the upstairs entry way.

Very nice additions!!!

I am impressed with the scaffolding ... did you 'borrow" that from work ... or do you just keep it around for the random taxidermy adjustments?

Scott I had to buy that at Northern Tools just to get that buff that high up on the wall. I also had to have two high school football players get up there to do it. That thing was heavy and no way I could do it with a ladder.

How about something for the kids or grand kids..............get them dreaming about hunting early on..........

I am impressed! I test lifted an eland off a pedestal at the taxidermist and it didn't have near as much horn as you were working with and it didn't move without another person. I can't imagine trying to handle that thing on a ladder!!!!

I always think that taxidermy is light ... as compared to the real deal ... until it gets above my shoulders on a ladder and I have to align it on that ONE screw.

some mounts done in Africa use fiber glass forms.super heavy,i prefer the Styrofoam forms, much lighter.

charlie,my first buff is high up.my 2nd buff will be on a pedestal so i can see the boss at the real world height.

Edward I think that's a good call. I may well do some pedestal mounts in the future. The other problem is making sure the mounts are really secure to the the wall. My buff up there is on a big screw that is in a stud.....but just in case I went into the room behind him and sank a 6" screw and washer through the baseboard!

Looking good gents, keep them coming...

We moved into the place down here on the San Gabriel over Christmas and New Years and started renovating the Carriage house in the spring. Took out several walls, new windows, hardwood flooring, and a bar, and it is now the Trophy Room/ Guest House/ Gentlemen's Club. Didn't want to pack it with critters, but did want them to be the centerpiece of the décor. Anyway, I like it. Hopefully, the photos will load.

Red leg,
Outstanding job sir! Very classic. The only thing that can make a proper scotch taste better is a proper place to enjoy it!
Cheers,
Cody

What is the carbine on top of the book cabinet?

You have a good eye. That is a Josslyn carbine used by some Federal cavalry during the Civil War. Fired the same round as the Spencer. This one was a presentation piece - hence the small silver plaque on the stock.

I like it, Redleg, very tasteful !

Also looks as some interesting rifles around.

Very, very nice!!!! Well done!

One question though, since it is also a "gentlemen's club"....where's the brass pole????? (must be a definition thing!)

@Red Leg we could always use more close up pictures of interesting guns and knives!

And yes, very nice room!

Very Nice Red Leg!
