Has anyone flown from the UK to Katima Mulilo in the Caprivi? @SRvet and I are looking to go next June. If so:

Who did you fly with from the UK? (We will ideally fly from Manchester)

If with Lufthansa how were they with firearms?

If via Frankfurt how were they with firearms (I assume it's easy as it won't be a self transit?)

Is the only way to fly to Katima Mulilo from Windhoek (Eros?)

If you flew Windhoek to Katima Mulilo did the flight go via Maun and if so did you need a firearms transit permit?

Thanks in advance

Nick

Thanks, that was our assumption, the FlightConnections site says it's direct and, in a way it is a domestic flight but on the AirLink website (that you click through to book) it says you go via Maun, Botswana

I always use emirates now from UK as they are firearm friendly and no charge .off 3 weeks today

I recently flew from Houston to Windhoek and Katima Mulilo, via Frankfurt on Lufthansa. My bag got left behind in Frankfurt, despite a 13 hour layover. My rifle case did arrive. It took Lufthansa 10 days for them to get me my bag. On my trip home, my rifle case was left in Frankfurt, despite a 4 hour layover. In my opinion, the Lufthansa/Frankfurt combo is risky. Lufthansa charges a hefty fee for guns too. I think it was $250, each way per rifle case.

What I would suggest, is pick your best option for UK to Windhoek. Plan to spend the night there and then continue onto Katima the next day.

The flight to Katima on Fly Namibia (codeshare with Airlink) is interesting. You will check in at the domestic (old) terminal in WDH. They don't even unlock the door to the terminal until about 8am, for the 10am flight. The domestic passengers, going to Katima, will board the plane and fill the back half or two thirds of the plane. Then a group of passengers will come from the international terminal and board the front part of the plane. These folks are going to Maun.

The flight departs WDH and lands at Maun. The Maun people get off and once they are all clear, the flight attendants ask some people to move to the front section to help balance the plane. The flight departs Maun and it's a short hop to Katima. No paperwork required for the stop in Botswana.

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
