Thoughts on the CZ 600 Series?

Once they made rifles, now they make commercial products for lower end market.
The same company once made combination guns, ZKK rifles and legendary pistol CZ75. Where they are now?
Now lets wait and see, when they will make a new firearms product of significance, worth noting. So far this is not on the horizon.

At one time cz was one of my go to recommendation when some one ask for a good rifle or handgun.
No so much anymore

We are on same page. I have two of their phased out products plus one fully customized.
Now I dont see anything of my interest in their current production line. (post 1964 syndrome?)

Everything CZ have made since they stopped there CRF rifles, the CZ550 Safari and especially their little 527 mauser has been a let down to be honest.

I shouldn't have sold my collection of Safari Mag's, only have the Rigby left and a little cz 527 .17 hornet.

I also have a cz 452 Varmint .22lr, shoots lights out.

I also have my late fathers Brno Model 1 "TGF" these were made for the Germans in WW11 as a training rifle I believe.

They need to get back to their roots, currently its a race to the bottom for them.

Pretty much like every other firearms manufacturer. They all claim their current models are better but the truth is cheaper to manufacture is not better. It is just cheaper. I don’t care if it is the most accurate rifle ever made, plastic crap has no soul and there is no craftsmanship. Guess I am now restricted to the used gun market.

Your Model 1 TGF was probably made for the GDR, a.k.a. East Germany, in conjunction with the Brno 1950 Volkspolizei M98K rifles. I own and use one of those M98 rifles. Need to get busy and load some more ammo for it!
I understand that the Model 1 was a postwar development. There is a sticky thread in the Brno/CZ (CZ/Brno?) page on Rimfire Central forum which covers Models 1, 2, 3, 4 (standard and Swedish), 5 etcetera; plus Arab world versions of the Model 2 that were made by Egypt under licence and subsequently in other countries. A nice deep rabbit hole to lose yourself in! Cheers from NZ.

The accuracy is the cheapest quality in rifle, in production.

The full name for the Brno Model 1 rifle is:
ZKM 451, 45 for the 1945 design year and 1 for the first design of that year. When they improved the design for the Egyptian military training rifle contract, they called the improved rifle the ZKM 452 OR Brno Model 2 . That was a break with tradition but it avoided customer confusion.

General consensus is that the 557 series was better built than the newer 600, despite being a pushfeed?

I'd like to find one of those 557 Ranger rifles.

I hoped cz would have made colt better.
But it looks like cz desided to hit bottom with colt.

I have a CZ 600 Alpha. That's the cheapest model they have. Mine was on sale for $349.99. It's in 7.62x39 and I put an Osight red dot on it. Where I hunt in TN, it's all hardwood ridges. Hell of a hike and long shots of 40 to 50 yards. This ugly little thing is super light, quick, and MOA at 100. It's perfect for my purpose. Did I mention it's ugly?

Accidentally, I stumbled on some review of new CZ 600 production on YT.
CZ 600 Plus!

A reviewer commented this was "controlled round feed rifle".
I had to investigate this and I took deeper dive into YT world of truth.

Next thing I found on you tube was, CZ 600 plus is produced in short action, medium action and "long action".

Wow!
Now I was seriously interested!
By that point, what would an average CRF fanatic and DG aficionado on this forum think?

CRF rifle available in three action lengths?
That was my thought, too!
So I went to check the CZ web pages.

CRF
:
yes and no. :E Shrug: Depends what is your definition of CRF?
Yes, as officially advertised it is CRF, but It is more like by now phased out sako 85 CRF type bolt. Not Mauser type CRF.

Ok, so far, in the overall lack of CRF rifles, and overall lack of 375 rifles in production I would be happy to compromise with modernized CRF system.
Fine.
Some efforts were given to market demand.
Fair. Acceptable. Ok.
At least they tried. I will give some credit to this.

So, now next thing to check, "long action".
This means 375 H&H chambering, and hopefully few others in 40 plus cal. realm.
Right?

False hope again. Max up to 300 win mag, not even 9.3x62 available.

Overall conclusion: Cold shower and return to reality from false hopes!

Average rifle option, for hunting on northern hemisphere, which can be used as a "deer rifle" on safari with plains game on the menu.

For a moment my hopes did light up. For the moment, only.

So, ok --- If I would be considering a new rifle, on budget, in all round caliber for roe deer, red deer, boar. yes, I might consider cz 600 plus. (If I manage to digest wooden bolt handle on lux series). Other features, magazine, safety, trigger, barrel changeability, stock, is more then average rifle of other factory in that price level on the market will offer.
For Africa, and buffalo - not even theoretically - for simple reason, no 375 as minimum caliber for dg.

So, in my situation, already having my backyard all rounder, and African 375 all rounder, I will pass this "opportunity".

You got a good deal… the Alpha’s are $650 currently at Bass Pro…

At $350 I’d buy one too… and I don’t need another rifle lol
