I've had several excellent .375's over the years including an amazing Dakota Safari, but this one tops them all. My work takes me to Africa each year and during 25 years of those trips I have hunted pretty extensively in Zimbabwe and several times in Namibia on the margins of those trips. Only recently, I have found that I couldn't budget the time for actual safari hunts and have spent most of the time I could carve out doing "problem animal control" with two PH friends who do such work for the Government. Those adventures usually tend to be two or three day events. As a result, I sold my heavier rifles since my hunting in the states is confined mostly to deer hunts in the midwest along with an occasional run out west for elk or antelope.

However, last year when I ran across this rifle... I just couldn't resist and acquired it right before my trip overseas. I couldn't wait to shoot it and got it scoped up and fired about 15 rounds of random ammo a couple of days before I left. The rifle paired with the GPO scope proved to be a dream set-up I would normally never consider parting with. However, I learned on that trip that my African itineraries will be increasing significantly in length, also involving multiple stops in several additional countries. With the heavier itinerary involving multiple border crossings, plus staying in places where a rifle could not be secured or in some cases, even possessed, taking my firearms would be an absolute nightmare. Given those realities, it's obvious that I would be a fool to continue to attempt bringing my firearms along. So, sadly, this rifle and a Lane Precision .300 Win Mag need a home other than my safe.

Specifications are as follows:
Action...Montana Model 1999
Weight..9.8 lbs. (with scope)
Jeweled, controlled round feed bolt
Incredible custom stock (with an in-letted rear sling attachment and barrel band)
Double cross bolts
Decelerator recoil pad
Banded, hooded front sight with a standing 100 yd and 3 folding leaves
Mounted currently is a German Precision Optics 1.5-9x32i illuminated dangerous game scope. (very impressive glass if you haven't read up on them)
Rings and bases are Talley detachables
As pictures show,

this gun appears in "as new" condition. When I fired it, the bolt face looked like it may have only been test fired before me. but I have no way to verify.

$4250 rifle only $5000 rifle and scope (Shipping is negotiable)

Did MRC build the entire rifle, or is this a Montana action with stockwork done by ...?

DON'T WANT TO MAKE IT ABOUT THE SCOPE CAUSE IT IS A GREAT RIFLE, JUST HAD TO LOOK UP GPO, SAYS IT HAS 4" OF EYE RELIEF!

Beautiful rifle! GLWS!

I’m neighbors too. Beautiful rifle. If it was a 404 I’d be driving to Springfield. . . .

I wish I had more definitive answers. I purchased it through a dealer in Idaho. What I got from the conversation was that it was a custom, built and stocked by an older gentleman. The dealer said he had virtually begged the man to build more for sale and he declined. I know nothing more than that. The markings on the barrel are only the 375 H&H. All I know is that it is so finely tuned and slick in operation that whether Montana barreled it or this other gunsmith, it is a work of art.

About 60 miles north on 13 highway

I know! The founders of this company were originally from the big European optics companies as I understand it. I also have a pair of their bino's, SWAROVSKI and Leica may be looking anxiously in the rear view mirror at these guys!
