The Soul of the Hunter - Alfredo Pelizzoli - 1998. A first edition in dust jacket. Signed by the author, below 'Nairobi 2001'. The author was an Italian adventurer, an artist and a hunter. In 1955 he sold his business to drive around the world. He only got as far as Kenya, where he decided to stay, opening a magazine publishing business there. He then decided to become a professional hunter and started his own safari business, acting as an apprentice hunter with well-established hunters whom he hired. He took many European clients hunting for elephant, lion, bongo, buffalo and more, over a long period of time in Tanzania, Central African Republic, Sudan and Ethiopia. He went on to establish a luxury lodge in 1973. This book details the many hunting stories of Pelizzoli for a variety of big game species across Africa. An extremely fascinating read.
