The "ideal" AH Hunter - welcome note

No I know who you are, your the one who forgot his camera at home so the hunt never took place, so you said you were not going to pay.

You cannot believe the shocked and almost teary eyed reaction from my PH as I “tipped” him my brand new Chinese made boots that I got on Amazon right before the hunt. Cash is great but he really appreciated my personal gift instead.
I left that PH speechless…

HH
You should have gave him the laces to “cheap p—-k.

Please advise!!

Africa's Son: I'm thinking about going to South Africa next summer, maybe June or July

Me: You realize June or July is winter in the southern hemisphere.

Africa's Son: huh, what?

Africa´s Son, what type of pith helmet do you recommend ?
Africa’s Son

None at all. I prefer a baseball cap, much easier and lighter. You can turn it around when you shoot with a scoped rifle. Other hats and helmets, the rim hits your scope and you loose your zero! I do not have that issue though, I turn my hat around even though I shoot a red dot on my custom 416 Rigby. Here is a photo of me turning my hat around about to shoot a buffalo with a camp gun (at the time I did not have my Winchester 416 Rigby), used the camp gun, no issues at all

Africa Son's do you have any good tips for us that already live in Africa seems to me I have only had a glimpse to opening the curtain into hunting Africa.

Remember to look for an outfit with well trained buffalo that know how to pose for charge photos. This is important because it might require more than one take. Also, don’t shoot until after they are within the 4 yard mark, so it’s “self defense”. That way you can skip the trophy fee if you don’t like the pictures.

Remember: it’s your Safari, and the customer is always right. The PH is just pulling your leg about game laws anyway…

A pith helmet from the Movie Zulu would be nice. Maybe add a leopard skin hat band.

Crocodile tooth & lion claw necklace.

Two cross draw Howdah pistols.

Africa Son,
I see you are from Canada. If you are in northern Ontario (around Thunder Bay) you have some amazing DG (dangerous game) to hunt there. They can be as quite as a worm when they move about or sound like a freight train. They stock you on the ground or worse, attack from above, out of the trees! I have attached a very rare photograph of one of these beasts. I’m sure you MUST have conquered one of these in your vast world hunting adventures.

and don't forget a pair of shorts as short as the ones those ex-rugby playing SA PH's like to wear.

A little tip on finding outfitters that can accommodate the social media requirements for good action shot's of a 'charge'. The ones where you will have the most chance to incite multiple charges, have been handfed from birth. Just go sit on a haybale and they'll be charging you every time!

You can skip a lot of those costs by going with 3 D printing. In fact I am looking into a 3D printed Holland & Holland, in .375 H&H we all know that is the only caliber for Africa

I wonder if they can 3-D print a Land Rover?
It must come pre broken down so you do not have to go to the trouble of actually having to drive it.

Be sure that you are one of a group who leaves a generous tip of $750.00 to be split between 2 PHs and twelve staff, and then ask for a discount after 2 eles , 2 croc, 1 hippo & and 3 hyenas taken. Hell that over 1% of invoice

Trust me they will be looking forward to you returning.

From the situations you have mentioned, it would be interesting if you could add #ThatReallyHappened. Because I have the feeling some of your descriptions come from experience!

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
