Hi all! Im looking at a purchase of a 470 Capstick, I gathering info on this caliber. The rifle im looking at is a custom made on a Interarms Mark X action and a 20 in barrel with a fixed 2 in muzzle break. It weighs about 10 lbs (no scope or rings). Shorter barrel than you describe above so MV would be less for the same charge. If I were to keep the same 2250 ish fps it would still require more powder to get there. Not sure how a shorter barrel affects recoil but what im wondering is will it be a beast or a pussycat ???

The closed system recoil would be similar to either barrel length- The open system, ie after the bullet leaves the muzzle would depend on the effectiveness of the brake and the pressure curve of the powder. A slower burning powder will generally have greater recoil due to two factors: an increased amount of powder relative to the faster powders and a significant amount of pressure as the bullet leaves the muzzle resulting in the jet-propulsion effect. It is possible that you could have a pleasant rifle to shoot if you can achieve the velocity you want by using one of the faster powders- .

My Douglas barrel should ship out this week. Has a dual taper, the first one to fit the B&C CZ550 Magnum barrel channel, then a slower taper for more muzzle girth and weight.
We tried a 3D printed barrel with 3/8 dia. steel support rod but Douglas said was still too much flex on the duplicator, so they lathed it by hand.
Good folks there!

Hell ... this cartridge never makes You undergunned! Even in Jurassic Park ;)

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
