Dear Gert

Thank you very much...

I am looking forward meeting you and all the other guys!

HWL

HWL, if you will be so kind, can you forward me your what`s up cell number so Willie Barnard can include you on the Black Powder hunt what`s up group???

Dear Gert....

I have a problem now...

I checked my vintage hunting clothing...and all this things are made to survive at - 20 ° centigrade in alpine conditions.....I probably will die soon under the sun of south africa!!!

;)

HWL

HWL, do not let that stop you...bring clothing resembling what we have at the hunt...long sleeve shirts, corduroy pants and bandannas..it will be fine.. a good hat is essential since it is winter in our country , the days /sun still burns hot ...the nights are colder or better put cooler..(y)(y)(y):LOL:

HWL, what size shoes do you wear ? We can tailor make a new pair of "Velskoene" for you. I will give you a Tonteldoos and a hand forged bush knife consisting of leaf spring steel with Olive wood scales as part of you welcome gift at our hunt..

Here are examples of the items:
Here is a photo of the knife you will receive ( not exactly the same..but this is a good representative .

Here is a a photo of the Vellies , MC Heunis is hand making in the camp , due to the leather being so expensive this item can be purchase from MC Heunis, all I need is the size of your shoes you currently wearing. Or you can use your own hunting shoes...(y)(y)

We are looking forward meeting you in our camp. Do you play any music instrument? If so please bring it along to join in our "Boere Music " around the camp fire in the evenings. Willie Barnard plays the violent, Morgan the Boere concertina, Greg plays a guitar as well...I am still learning to play my Boere concertina ...(y)(y)(y)(y)

Good Evening to you HWL. We really try to make every hunt memorable event for every hunter who participates . For every hunter , this is a memorable event in different forms, from making food on the camp fire to the actual hunting of every game we hunt and shot for camp food and biltong/game wors...every year I try to add another aspect to this hunt. This year we manage to bring two donkeys, courtesy of Hansie Minnaar ...next year Johan Greyling and I want to take our horses with. It will give me the opportunity to hunt out further and get nearer to the game on horseback. I wil be taking an ox wagon to Herman Nel to build a three quarter canvas canopy on the transport ox wagon Johan Greyling gave to Wallace Vosloo since he lost his ox wagon with all his original 1883 era items . It was destroyed in a huge fire around Knysna forest, killing a whole family who was close friends of Wallace Vosloo..it still is something he finds extremely difficult to overcome.... Please come and enjoy this hunt, that is the only main aim we expect you to do..make friends, as well as teach us about how you in your country does hunts. Every this is an enormous learning experience for all of us...every one learns a lot from every body on this hunt...on the end it is important to enjoy every moment since it is so special to do this hunt....I will forward your shoe size to MC Heunis so he can make your pair of " Velskoene/Vellies as we know it....As I mentioned previously, I will supply you with my first self build 1883 era tent...stretcher, linen , blanket and pillows.
I will give you all the information/you will be able to follow us on the What`s up group when we usually commence with preparations around February 2019...

There are a few members who will converse in your language, German as well...Germany was part of the Anglo Boer Wars by supplying the Boere with 7X57 Mausers who made the marksmanship of the Boer nation legendary...:LOL:(y)(y)

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
