I work with a great outfitter in South Texas, his area consists of over 60,000 acres of prime Whitetail habitat. This hunt is 100% free range and only mature deer will be taken. His success rate is 100%. There is no top end on score you can take the biggest mature deer seen.

He has some openings left for this year, his trophy Whitetail hunts are fully inclusive of 1x1 guiding, lodging, meals and trophy fee. The hunts are 4 days long and are $7,000 plus Texas hunting license.

He is also offering some big 8 and management 4 day hunts in these same areas. They are $3,000 each plus license.

Bluey that is not a management buck, he is beauty though(y)

What is the Texas big eight?

What size of average trophy can be expected to be seen while hunting on these properties? Thanks.

Sorry for the slow replies, i', not getting notified of post's?

For a big 8, with is a mature 8 point deer, usually 140" range. they can go bigger or smaller, you will have a guide the whole time and he will make the call on what deer are taken. i have seen guys take some nice 9-10 point deer that were in the 150-160 range and bigger deer if they were injured.

The trophy deer are 170" and up, we take 180-200" deer every year.

what number would that one in the photo make,?
he's a cracker

I could be wrong, since I pay less attention to whitetails than I use to but I think he's 180+ Gross score.

thanks enysee , figured he would be way up there .
when you pay for these whittail hunts , would you pay on a gross score or a net ?
ive always wondered that ......
would you call him a 13 point deer ?
and is he one of them typical ?

He could be scored as a typical most likely because the points match, for the most part. You pay on the gross score. I think the buck is 180+ or - 10. It's hard to tell though.

I've never been an expert in scoring deer, I would put him right at 185" free range typical.

Of course that is a trophy class deer and they are $7,000. no limit on size.

Sounds like a good hunt and I give ya a call :-)

I really got to quit logging in this site cost me money :sneaky: nice speaking with you as well
