TANZANIA: Back From The Selous

Congratz on a great safari so far. Having your family there and taking in the beauty that is Africa is very special. Like your second buffalo the best. You mentioned Kolby, he is a gentleman that is very good at his job. Met him at SCI a few years back. I hunted my first buffalo with His brother Kyne, as my PH. Great family.
Yes, Kolby is a humble knowledgeable gentleman, an amazing photographer and videographer that we loved to have with us.

Aug 19. With all the heavy lifting done with the 2 old buffalo, my dry land Hippo and the wedding anniversary day past, I was more than content. We started the day by driving to Stephans other camp called the Mswega and on to the Rufiji river for some fishing, it was around 2.5 hours away. Seen many of the regular plains game, along with more buffalo, Sable and Waterbuck. My son caught two catfish on the Rifiji and lost what maybe seemed like a Tiger fish. The Mswega camp was very nice and sat on the banks of a dried up river.

Aug 20. We spent the last day in camp measuring all the trophies, taking lots of pictures, packing and celebrating our amazing safari. "Pole,Pole" which I've mentioned before means slowly, slowly in Swahili. I may have spelt it wrong before but it is pronounced "POH-leh". All my trophies were what I was hoping for in old animals especially the slicked off bossed buffalo and the ancient Hippo.

Aug 21. Getting picked up by the charter and flying to Zanzibar for relaxing, reminising and beach time. A teary goodbye as my wife, son and I absolutely loved our time in the Selous, everyone was so kind, friendly, courteous and professional. First class outfit all the way including Kolby Edwards from Mutambo Films. I simply cannot say enough good things about our first African experience.

Aug 21-26. Zanzibar, in which I would also highly recommend for a post safari cool down. Beautiful white sand beaches, great food and service.

In closing, an absolutely wonderful Safari that was so special to share with my wife and son. Stephan and his crew treated us better than gold and we are very grateful. Truly a trip of a lifetime for us. Most of these photos were taken by Mr Kolby Edwards. Cheers.

Mind if I ask where you stayed on Zanzibar? Thanks for the great trip report!
We stayed at The Sands Resort Dongwe beach.

I live that broomed-off buffalo and the old hippo. This has been an amazing first safari, thanks for taking us along! Waidmannsheil!

So when are you going back? :)

What a wonderful safari and some great animals taken. Congratulations! Could you please post more pictures of the surrounding areas of Zanzibar.

I didn't take many pictures in Zanzibar but here is one approaching the beach from our Villa we rented. We never left the resort area, we had our own private pool and the bar was near the beach maybe 60 yards from our place. Im not a beach guy whatsoever but my wife and son wanted some ocean time after being in the Selous. Fair enough and I enjoyed the cool down as well, I wouldn't have liked jumping on international flights immediately after the safari. The resort was small and super quiet, it was maybe half full at that time. There were no TV's and internet was sketchy with the odd power outage daily, which was perfect for us as we wanted to unplug for a while. Customer service was outstanding.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
