Tank of a Mid Western Black Bear

Here is a tank of a Mid Western Black Bear I killed in May 2024. This was on a private ranch in the nine mile mountain range in Utah.

Very nice How big was it squared? Did you mount it or rug it?

I will have to check measurements he should be back from the taxidermist soon. He will be full body mounted.

I’ve hunted North Carolina and passed bears around the 500 pound mark.

This bear over 400 pounds and size of his head is pretty impressive to me for a mid western bear

It looks big for a black bear. What caliber did you use? How many rounds were needed?

I used 45-70 lever open sight 2 shots second was just for good measure.

Congrats! You can see the stovepipe nose, legs that don’t taper much and the worn down teeth - all signs of an old bear. Well done!
