I'll never understand it.Years ago, a friend of mine shot a fantastic Sable in Mozambique, while it was still in the taxidermy in SA, another "hunter"saw it and made an offer for 10.000 USD, my friend replied jokinly, let´s make it 20.000 USD, and a deal was made.
It´s one of the highest ranked Sable on Roland Ward.
25 years ago a very good friend and hunting mentor passed. His 1000 sq ft man cave (with 12 ft walls and vaulted ceiling) was absolutely "stuffed" (pun intended) with some truly spectacular hunting trophies...4 or 5 life-size Dall's Sheep, life-size Kodiak, 2 life-size Muskoxen fighting nose to nose, life-size Bongo jungle diorama, and pretty much everything in between. When he "ran out of room" he took a 15 ft Croc...installed eye bolts in it's back, and rigged a hand crank winch at the entry to the room. It was hoisted up to the rafters, and someone wanted to see it....it cranked it down to settle on top of the pool table.
Sorry...I'm digressing, Memories are flooding the pattern.
When he died, his Daughter told me at the funeral, that Del had told her... "Before you get rid of all my "stuff" give Freddie anything and everything that he wants".
As honored as I was, and still am for that offer, I couldn't accept a thing.
My (much smaller...600 ft)) man cave is also full...but every single memory is mine....I earned them...one and all
Best
