These black walnut stock blanks are cut for A-Square "Coil Check" stocks. They are just under 2.5" wide, allowing you to make the butt of your dangerous game rifle wide and spread the recoil force out over a larger area of your shoulder. I bought them while working at A-Square circa 1997.

My projected building of dangerous game rifles has met my anemic wallet, so I don't need all of these.

All blanks have no sapwood, and have markedly straight grain through the grip area for strength and less chance of ever splitting.

I have pics of both sides, but out of consideration for the website bandwidth, have only posted one side here. If interested I can send the other one to you.

$50 shipped each, CONUS.

P.S. - I worked extra hard to get them to stick to the deck railing like that too! : )

Throw some alcohol on them so the grain shows. They look plain in the photos.

HogPatrol - they are plain - standard grade walnut - not fancy/A, or AA, or AAA - they were purchased for their strength and not looks in particular. The intent was to get wood that would stand up to .505 Gibbs, or .500 A-Square levels of recoil.

I did wet one down with alcohol as you suggested - it brought out the dark lines a little, but these have straight grain and just not alot to show in the "fancy" area. Appreciate your suggestion - thanks. When I get some spare moments will re-shoot a pic of each one wet.

That last photo looks like it would show some grain lines after the curve has been formed. Good prices for sure.

Hi Jon,
I saw your post for the .500 NE cases. Are these all brass or are they nickel plated? Hard for me to tell... sorry.
Thanks,
