I am considering a 1-4 Steiner for my 458. Any thoughts on reticle choices ?

For DG? For me too many things going on in the reticle. I would like a more simple duplex or center dot reticle or a German reticle.

I bought a noblex red dot sight myself.

It's all personal preference!

It also depends on one's eyesight.

I prefer a mildot recticle and require a 3.5 minimum and like a max power minimum of 14 power with a 45mm objective for low light conditions. And for longer range and steep angle shots. You may be carrying your 458 as a one gun battery for buff and TIA a really nice trophy animal too good to pass on appears out of no where at 100+ yards and/or in the deep valley, or draw, below. Or after the successful buff hunt sitting in a raised blind, at night, 15 feet up over bait 13 yards from the blind and a bushpig comes out, broadside, at 8 +/- yards from the blind.

14 power on a 458 win......... :E Hmmm:

I have both those reticles on the Steiner 1-4. Definitely go for the one on the right, it has red illumination that is aimpoint bright. The reticle really draws your eye to the center.

The reticle on the left with green illumination is really really small, pretty much have to use the illumination to pick it up fast. I was dissapointed when I recieved it.

I don’t like either of those reticles for buffalo hunting though both would work. If I had to choose between the two, probably the one on the right although I find no use for a BDC reticle on a 458. My preference would be a clean standard heavy duplex or German No. 4 and with a red dot even better.

The pictures dont do it justice, the reticle stadia lines are not that big. I'll see if ai can take some pics through the scopes later

I like a simple duplex reticle for dangerous game. I'm a big fan of Leupold 1x6 or 2x10, illuminated reticle.

The leupold Patrol with the fire dot is looking much more appropriate
That's exactly what I have on my 416 Rigby, and on my .375H&H I have the Leupold VX5 2x10, illuminated reticle.

Hello,

I saw your post selling left hand rifles. Do you have any additional pics of the .416 Rem mag?

Thank you.

Hello, I saw your post selling left hand rifles. Do you have any other left hand rifles you may let go of? Also can you send a few additional pics of Borden rifle?

Thank you.
