I am selling my beloved Lee-Enfield No. 4 MK1*. It was manufactured at Long Branch in 1943, and fitted (long before I bought it) with a walnut Monte Carlo stock by Interarms in Alexandria, VA. It is in excellent condition. It was re-blued -- possibly also by Interarms -- and the bluing is intact and flawless. The bore is bright with some scattered pitting. The two grooves and the lands are clean and sharp. My groups come in at 1.25" at 100 yards from the bench with PMP 174 grain SP ammo. I am including the Tasco 2-7x scope pictured, as well as the original military peep sight, canvas sling, cleaning kit and the S&K scope mount box (FWIW :) Note: The cleaning kit is just a vintage relic. It would need to be cleaned up significantly in order to be used.

I am also packaging in about 220 rounds of premium 303 British hunting ammo (no Indo-Pakistani made corrosive ammo here):

- 8 1/2 boxes - Modern-manufacture South African PMP 174 grain SP
- 10 rounds Remington High Speed 215 gr
- 41 rounds of professionally loaded premium hunting ammo
+ 180 gr Hawk
+ 174 gr Hornady RN Interlock
+ 174 gr APC Sidewinder)

Price is $1,300 for the package. Buyer pays actual shipping (though I'm happy to meet up for free delivery within about 75 miles of Phila, PA). PayPal, Venmo, money order or personal check. I will ship when the payment clears. Thank you very much for looking!

FYI - I just cross-posted this rifle/ammo package on two other shooting websites. From time to time, I will reduce the price by about 5% until it sells (approximately every week or two). I will always post the price reduction here on AfricaHunting.com first, and then a day or two later on the other sites. Thanks again for looking!

Just for fun, pictures of two hunts with this rifle on Kilmacdough Estate in Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe:

1. Walking home after getting snookered (utterly) by a family of reedbuck in Sable Vlei (they drop down and "crawl" beneath the tall grass to get away).

2. Seeking the elusive African Wamologote (i.e. whatever-moves-and-looks-good-to-eat) from the top of Leopard Kopje. That day it was either klipspringer or bush pig, if I remember correctly.

Kilmacdough 2 - Small.jpg

BTW - I just wanted to point out that the Long Branch arsenal designated this particular rifle as sniper-grade due to its accuracy FWIW - No. 4 MK1* (T). Have a look at img_5009.jpg and you can see the barrel stamp.

Not offended, SCLawyer. I can understand. I don't think I know anyone personally on the site (though I'm not 100% sure), and I can't really vouch for my own credibility :) Give some thought as to how your concerns can be satisfied, and I'll do whatever I can to make that happen.

I will measure the scope tube and length of pull when I get home in about an hour. Thanks for your interest!

That is very cool. I have a long branch (still in full stock) I killed my first deer with. Good luck on the sale!
Thank you very much, baxterb! I appreciate that :)

Hi SCLawyer:

I just took the measurements and am providing photos below. The Tasco tube OD is 1" (it mic-ed at 0.996"....close enough :) The length of pull is 14".

BTW - This does nothing to validate the rifle's pedigree, SCLawyer....but it may help vouch for the fact that I do exist and I'm probably not a scammer :)

This is a photo of me with Rowan Martin in 1998 at his flower plantation outside of Harare. Between 1995 and 2001, I did research in sustainable conservation on the CAMPFIRE program with the Department of National Parks and the University of Zimbabwe. Rowan was a resource for me learning about conservation programs all across Southern Africa.

Bump and 5% price reduction to $1,235. Note: This is a No. 4 Mk1* (T)

Thanks for looking!

Bump and 5% price reduction to $1,175. Note: This is a 1943 Long Branch No. 4 Mk1* (T) Sniper rifle.

Thanks for looking!

Awesome looking 303 I have 4 of these awesome rifles fun to shoot with slip on pad .

Yes, I couldn't agree with you more dgr416 and Zvikomborero. The No. 4 MK 1 is a great rifle, steeped in military history and the spirit of adventure. There is no round more ubiquitous with African hunting than the 303 British. Among many other things, it killed both lions of Tsavo.

Bump and 5% price reduction to $1,115.

FYI - This is a 1943 Long Branch No. 4 Mk1* (T) Sniper rifle. I am including over 200 rounds of premium hunting ammo, the original peep sight and some additional accessories.

Thanks for looking!

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….
