SPAIN: Spain Chapter Three: Hunting Beceite Ibex & Roe Deer With Great Spanish Hunts

Great write up and fantastic animals.

That looked like a wonderful trip. Spending time with your friends there made it all the more special I'm sure.

Did you hunt for the same species the other times you have visited Spain?

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

We arrived in Montoro on the 25th. With whom were you hunting? I saw the photo of the fantastic roebuck you took in your post. Congrats. Any luck with an ibex?

The quality of the roe deer was extraordinary. One would have to go to Eastern Europe to find similar animals. Below are two others we saw. Ignacio's big Nikon was amazing. Both of these bucks are over 500 yards away.

It really was one of the more unique areas we have visited in Europe. We ate lunch on our last day in Montoro in the little town of Aliaga. It has one of the prettiest small churches that I have seen anywhere in Europe.

I was hunting with Espacaza/Jose Mallo. I took my big roe buck and a nice representative ibex on the 2nd day, then moved closer to Madrid to continue roe buck hunting and took two more. I really want to return to hunt more Spanish roe bucks in spring, the hunt, hunting areas, and trophy quality are unbeatable.

Great write up! Was it only a one day hunt?

We had scheduled it for three. We spent all day in the field on the first day taking those two animals. Day two, we slept in and played tourist in the mountains. I could have hunted another roe deer, but we let Ignacio and Marta drive us back to Barcelona a day early so they could get a day back with their families.

Congratulations. I am pleasantly surprised to hear of the quality of game and the peaceful nature of Spain. Thanks for another fascinating article—so enjoyable. Your friend, Brian

Great report & animals, thank you for posting it up, well done !

I'm not normally a fan of the Spanish Ibex but what a grand old Billy you took there, truly a great trophy he is.

I did work for a Spanish out fitter in Africa & he invited me many times to hunt in Spain & I declined, I do wish I had now, as he has now passed away last year !

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris
