You did “this a few years back”. Well, that was a few years ago, then it was very simple indeed. However that has been changed, now every apllication has to go to the CFR Pretoria…

Still no firearm permit. Welcome to South Africa…

Wow, the firearm permit is with me, it arrived today, can hardly believe my luck! Leaving on May 2 for Bulawayo, very much looking forward to an old dagga boy.
Glad it worked out for you! Good luck!

Great for you!!!

As an American, I would never try to get my guns through South Africa to another African country through RSA (or even into RSA) without the help of my PH.

They know who to "grease".

I would spend my entire trip in the police station at the JNB airport, trying to "reason" with the police, which would do absolutely no good.

It is really is a travesty how far the RSA has fallen within the past 18 years.

Super news!! BVC is an excellent area! Great buffalo there with good numbers of scrum and broken horn dagga boys :) Good luck!

Wish I were there

That‘s what I would love to get: a very old bull with huge polished boss. However the size of the trophy has no meaning to me, important is the hunt itself.

John Sharp knows BVC that's for sure! :) Oh my, ticks! This time of year, pepper ticks can be thick in BVC area. Check often and pre-treat clothes with something like permethrin along with some DEET on ankles, arms and neck. After a fairly wet season in 2018 IIRC, surprised I didn't get tick fever.

Exactly, we are talking about pepper ticks. Got already lots of DEET and Permethrin. Poor animals, they will be full of ticks, get eaten alive.

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John [redacted]
