We have had a fabulous time. I cannot say enough about Marius and his team.

I did, however, neglect to tell you how my father set a @KMG Hunting Safaris record! He is the oldest person to take an animal here:cool:

Dad did his wing shooting as planned and then noticed the fun we were having. He asked if he could go after something. The first time out he went with SJ to get a blesbok. Graham took them out. My father stalked in on one but was busted. SJ connected with a beautiful shot and scored his second animal.

When they got back in the evening we all contributed our thoughts on Dad's walking style. After so many years with a wife and kids I can tell he is used to receiving well intentioned, but unsolicited, advice  I think dad listened to his grandchildren and he was working on his step whenever he had to move around the lodge:)

The next day he was out again with mum. I thought it really cool that the two of them were sharing this experience!!! Anyway, a brief stalk resulted in dad connecting with a very nice blesbok:cool::cool: at 80 years of age (81 in a month) he became the oldest person to hunt with @KMG Hunting Safaris

Way to go guys!! I was nervous for him but did not have to be. He was up for the task and he was with a great guide.

This just keeps getting better!

Outstanding!

:D Cheers: for Dad :A Clapping:

And Dad is on a roll...not content with his success he is presently, at this very moment, in a blind trying for a bush pig!!! Go dad!

Good stuff, thanks for the updates! Congrats to dad!

You people are having entirely too much fun. I am so jealous.

Bush pig 1 Dad 0 :( He put in a short night but it sounds like he had a good time anyways.:):) It was a spur of the moment idea so the odds were against him.

Tagged out today. nothing with my bow sadly but on the way to impala, we ran into a very hyper baboon. largest one i have ever seen. Marius set up the sticks and i rested the suppressed .308 on them very carefully. eventually, the baboon came to a calm, perfectly positioned stop and i pulled the trigger. *BANG* the baboon turned and ran up a tree and Marius asked if i even hit him. *FLOP* down came the baboon. "i think so" is what i said. the GS customs did quite a number on the biggy. After the photoshoot, we headed up the hill to were Marius and I hunted these 2 massive rams earlier in the day. We spotted and stalked to 31 yards. The wind was ridiculous today and i was not comfortable taking that shot with the wind. We stalked to a heart stopping 25 yards and they looked. Marius said "draw and shoot the first one" i hesitated. Back home, when you draw with an animal looking at you, before full draw, they are gone. By the time i made up my mind, they had started walking off. Marius looked frustrated with me. WE stalked them again but never was able to get the shot. All in all, it was the best hunting trip i have ever had. Never did get anything with that bow of mine :(

Photos will come tomorrow when we arrive in PE, the internet here is not unlimited so i will post from the hotel. will include Dads Kudu, my baboon and any other Photos not thrown up yet.

Enjoyed the posts on your hunt (s)

Don't think I have ever seen a string of back to back reports on one outfitter covering so many hunters on any forum. And with everyone having such a good time.

Well done to all.

Really enjoy the read. Certainly the string of reports adds to the anticipation. Look forward to the photos

Rigby got very cold that day and this is by far the cutest thing i have every seen. Flex was also wearing a jacket but did not look nearly as miserable. (sorry for the quality, phone doesn't cooperate with dark blind)

This little killer with my Baboon.

Shooting a baboon is the weirdest feeling. When we moved it to take the picture, i grabbed its front legs and its hand touched my and it felt like a cold infant. All in all, felt good taking out a pest.

Marius questioned if i hit the baboon because he turned and ran up a tree. *SMACK* down comes the baboon, I turned to Marius a said "i think i got him"

Gorgeous kudu!

@Pheroze, when I shot my gemsbok the exact same thing happened. I felt myself pull the rifle slightly to the right just as I shot and thought I was in trouble. But I ended up hitting him in the neck and he dropped like he was struck by lightning.

Welcome to the Baboon Killing Club, Nuval! They can be a hard trophy to get!

And congratulations to your father/grandfather. It's awesome that he still has the ability and desire to hunt at 80!

On the sticks(y) stood there for an eternity before we moved off around the left side of that bush and up a bit.

The end result of all of Marius' hard work.(y)

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.
