SOUTH AFRICA: RIFLE: BOWHUNT: First Safari With Global Safaris Just Amazing

Great pics. and report. BTW where is your wife from? From previous AH posts most if not all of the good women shooters "hail" from Texas. It would be nice to have at least one "yankee" in that group.:)
Both of us are from Minnesota. My wife grew up shooting as a kid and she is a great shot. We shoot steel at a range and she can ring it at 700 yds. She also is turning our daughter into a great shot. Couldn’t be more happy about that!

Congrats on your hunt! Great trophies all around!

Wed was Election Day so not knowing what was going to happen we hunted close to the lodge. We went after a blesbok and after driving around for a bit we found 2. The only shot my wife had was 220 yds and he was facing us. After the standoff for what seemed like 5 min Ronald asked how do you feel. She replied I’m on him if he’s clear, he said ok. She shot and he ran off lifting his leg. We found him 40 yards from where he was hit. Ronald replied I have had a lot of people that couldn’t pull off that shot. She was extatic and we had a nice looking animal. I couldn’t of been happier with how things turned out.

Great stuff so far!! Ronald and his family are great people, hunted last March with them.

I used a Hoyt carbon defiant, 80 lb 30 inch draw, Easton full metal dangerous game 250 arrows, 75 gr copper insert, stainless collar on the arrow before the broadhead and 175 gr Strickland helix head. Total weight 804 gr going 224 ft. Worked great!

Nice. That’s a lethal combo. The 30 inch draw ensures your getting all you can out of that bow!

Thursday was our departure day. Took some photos and head to the airport. On the way there we stopped by safari outdoors in Pretoria. If you never have been you should stop by. They had a lot of things I saw that you can’t get in the states.

Its like a cabelas of South Africa.

Overall had a heck of an trip. Global safaris is a first class outfit, and I can’t recommend them enough. Many memories made, bucket list was checked, and can’t wait to be back.

Hi Jon,
I saw your post for the .500 NE cases. Are these all brass or are they nickel plated? Hard for me to tell... sorry.
Thanks,
