SOUTH AFRICA: Question For Tootabi Hunting Safaris

Same here,I do not want to get involved, shows the importance of checking references and documentation.

If you do not want to get involved on this public forum, PM me cuz I am really between a rock and hard place. Just a click away from booking a safari with Loodt.

I do not operate in the Eastern cape, and never had any knowledge of this. What I do know is that some of my clients booked with Loodt for an extension of their safaris after hunting with me, he seemed to be totally legit. I even give his details to prospective clients who enquired about the Eastern cape.

I assume Dave is being forthright in his disclosure that he contacted Nature Conservation and confirmed an Outfitters Permit is present.

Well Brickburn,if the outfitters permit is in place, and somebody else is the PH there should be no problem.

Hi Guys.
I am better know to all as Beans.
I have been informed about this post on the forum and decided to register and take part on it as I am also involved in this.
...........

Glad you joined Beans. I hope this is not the only thread in which you take part as it sounds like you have a lot to offer.

Can someone help me out here.

Where is Tootabi? What is its origin?
I must assume it is some locality or place name like the Waterburg for it to be so popular!

That's what I learned in PH school. I even passed the tests. :)

Sometimes they can even be licensed to be both but they do not have to be.

This is a quite interesting turn of events .... I feel aorry for those who entrusted him . Unfortunate to say the least . I have to add that NOTHING good in life comes cheap ... So I suppose at the end of the day yoh only get what you pay for . I hope that members that are affected by this will come forward so the other outfitters can try and assist them in their quest !

Happy Hunting !

Tootabi means sweet honey. It is from French origin. It is an area of around 10000 morgen in the old days. It is situated in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, an hour's drive north of Port Elizabeth. It lies down a valley with the Zuurberg mountain the northern boundary and ends at the Bushman's river in the East.

I grew up here and the Du Preez family has been land owners since the mid 1800's here.

Nothing of great importance has ever happened here. After hunting as a freelance ph for many years I have decided to start my own hunting company. It was a name that nobody used so I thought it would make sense to use this name where I grew up and love so much.

Gerhard, I believe that expecting PHASA to yank a rabbit out of a hat on this one, Is a bit much, especially with the mentioned party not being an outfitter or PH... A civil case would be the most appropriate and only course of Action.

At least one knows that when booking with A PHASA member that said member is an outfitter or PH.. This is where it comes in, if a said outfitter or PH is then guilty of irregularities PHASA WOULD BE ABLE TO assist.....

I do not wish to make this A PHASA THREAD JUST WANTED TO ADD

I hope this gets resolved very soon for the sake of all parties involved, and especially those who have invested funds into upcoming safaris.

Gerhard I hope that this get sorted for your sake as well I would be raping rattle snakes out of anger if I was in your position.

My best always.

Thank you Jaco for seeing my point of view as well.

I am not going to make a big fuzz about PHASA. I will in time ask for a explanation how matters like this are being handled. Maybe then I will have a better understanding and will accept how it works.

Kind regards

Spike not being based and not operating in the eastern cape neither myself and or Jacques was aware of this.

As members of this site this has been a surprise to us as well.

My best always

ok jaco thanks for the info, cheers

Thanks Spike wanted to clear this up.
My best always.

Dear Members,

I have read through the apprehensions and concede that I received an email from Jerome (founder) to respond to this thread and assertions in a urgent and timely manner.

I will however only be able (and most definitely want to) respond to each one of the above threads and replies after the burial of a close family member, secondly whilst and with that I have a Grand Mother currently in and out of hospital and terminally ill who needs to be taken care of after as well.

I promise to respond to this no later as to the end of the week, as I do fully understand the complexity and urgency that are required to resolve this matter not only for me and to restore my name but for the whole hunting community, CLIENTS and all affected parties.

I do hope that you understand and ask to please give me time so that I can just get the family doings (funeral) of coming Thursday over with.

Furthermore I am currently acquiring legal advice on this very sombre matter and assertions and will release a full comprehensive statement as requested as soon as available.

Kind regards,

Loodt

Thanks Loodt!

Sorry for your loss, and your Grandmother's health problems. God will provide.

I can't speak for others, but I will wait to hear your side of the story, especially as all does not seem to add up with the current allocations.

I've stayed quiet to this point, but would like to voice my concerns about the allegations.

Leopard - statement of illegal hunts and that Loodt has been advertising illegally for years. Where is that proof, Leopard? I haven't been able to find years old advertising, nor have I seen any proof of an illegal hunt being conducted? Your allegations are serious and should be backed with fact, not here say.

TVS - I'm no SA law expert, but here in the U.S. we cannot coin an area, such as "New York City," or "Rocky Mountain." In my past conversations with Loodt it is my understanding that the name "Tootabi" is the local area name, as well as the name of his farm for years. It doesn't seem that your name would supersede this in anyway.

I'm sure the truth will come out in this matter shortly and that the chips will fall where they may. Until that time, I will wait and not draw any conclusions based on internet here say.

Looking forward to the response, always good to hear both sides.

Damn, Now i have to be in competition with unlicensed Outfitter's and PH's...if he is quilty, let him swing!!, but looking forward to his response...

I comprehend your reluctance.

Guys, you are already involved.
You make a living in the industry, you are members of AH.

If you do not want to post a concern directly, I will be more than happy to assist you.PM me!
I will make every effort to assist by sharing the information with the membership after I have had my own look around.

When anyone has a complaint I try to ask the individual involved to post their reply.
Most folks want to reply to reasonable concerns.

Hey Brickburn,

I understand we are involved already and I had to say what I feel but do not want to come a cross that I am trying to push somebody deeper into the mud for my own best will. I really feel that operators that does operate illegally should definitely be put on the block and removed from the industry does not matter who they are. Operators like that makes it even harder for honest and loyal outfitters to sell safaris.

I certainly just wanted to urge possible clients to make sure that all is in order before they jump on "cheap" deals.

Thank you though for offering to help with posts I will definitely keep in mind. As I said earlier I hope this matter can be resolved and I am looking forward to the reply from both parties.

Spike as Jaco said we are far from the EC and do not know many operators down there. As everybody else we suspected that all is in order. Time for a beer.... haha

Best regards,

Jacques

I am the first guy to provide the axe to go with the block. The more information available to hunters the better.

........

No matter what "deal" anyone makes they MUST check that everything is on order beforehand.

Zimbabwe Outfitters keep saying the same thing about South African Outfitters hunting in Zimbabwe.

Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
