SOUTH AFRICA: My First Hunting Experience In South Africa At MORETLA SAFARIS

I kind of laughed to myself reading that story, because it was illegal as hell! Lmao! But I guess it was 40 some years ago, so you're probably safe! Nice story. I could picture it it my mind. :)
Did you make it to Africa?

Cam thanks,
Yup was a young pup and didn't really know about the laws. Haven't made it to Africa yet. Booked in for a 10 hunt with myself and wife in SA. Even have a good couple of buddies joining us. Should be a blast April 2020

I believe I did read that afterwards. Frontier?

Just few days ago I came back from my first Safari hunting experience in SA. I spent wonderfull and exiting week at Moretla Safari. New comfortable accommodation, traditional cuisine and friendly atmosphere created strong and unforgettable memories. We did really hard, walked and stalked only, within few days nearly 40 km in bush, that's what I am proud of. Not everybody can do the same, but therefore are at Moretla prepared to help you. We've also got nice trophys... everything has been taken with 30-06, 180 grain bullet. My first SA hunt has been Red Hartebeest, facing mě for more then 110 m, then Sable, again facing me for 80 m, SCI golden Impala, seen from 300m and taken from 120 m again straight from front to the chest and as a last one Gemsbock. The only one with side shot.
Thanks to my new friends Japie Swart and PH Tyron and Annemarie Schoeman.

Nice pictures and great trophies.

Glad you had a good hunt. That Gemsbok looks ancient! A real trophy!!

Congrats, well done.

Being a hunter since I was a young boy, and having harvested many plains game throughout Sub Saharan Africa, it became time to hunt for the glamorous game. Thus coming into 2019 my wife and I have booked a trip with Moretla Safaris hunting for a trophy Sable bull, and Gemsbuck. The rifles were ready and all packed and ready we arrived at Moretla Camp in Limpopo Province, South Africa at the end of September on our memorable trip. Day one, Sonja got her SCI Gold Gemsbuck and thereafter it was time to start looking for our Sable Bull. On the morning of day two, we walked into the herd of about five Sable bulls. What a sight, and my hart started pumping.....Tyron (owner and outfitter of Moretla) stated that our Bull is between this lot, so the hunt was on. We walked and stalked a few times onto them, where the third time bumping into them the magnificent black bull faced quartering towards us at around 80 yards. The sticks went up, the 8x68S rifle fired and the bull stumbled...The shot hit him on the left shoulder. He expired after a short run, and there was my magnificent Sable Bull measuring 43" in Rowland Ward, and SCI Gold. I was in absolute awe having had the absolute privilege in hunting such a magnificent animal on the African soil. I want to thank Tyron and his wife, Annemarie of Moretla Safaris, for an absolute memorable hunting trip.

Awesome people, aren't they?

I grew up just like timber69. Wouldn't trade it for the world. On the loose with a .22 lol great story and trophy. I've got a 19 inch wide 8 pt whitetail on my wall that I accidentally caught in a snare intended for a wild boar that was frequenting a standing cornfield. How he managed to get his head in that snare is a mystery.

Hallo, ein Freund von mir lebt auf einer Farm in den Rocky Mountains.
Leider kam es dort in den letzten Wochen zu Bränden.
Hoffe es geht dir gut!?
