SOUTH AFRICA: Leopard Valley Safaris aka Dave Davenport

What MichaelH and Jussie Smollett are trying to figure out how to do today.;)

Wow. This thread has given me a stomach ache.

Glad it got sorted quickly (kudos to Brickburn especially).

What a shame that Dave had to deal with this garbage. Hopefully no harm done (well, except to those who appear to have lied for personal gain).

This almost seems like the work of a Troll. I’m having trouble connecting the comments being made with the prior photos and texts Dave has shared. Also, the writing style appears completely different. Can anyone reach out to this guy via a different media and check to see that his acct hasn’t been hacked?

.

Dave copied pages from FB where the OP was obviously sharing his pleasure with his experience, in direct contradiction of his statements here.

NOTHING HAS BEEN HACKED. No the OP is not an anonymous troll.

I'll help clear this up before everyone gets sick and vomits on their screen from all the spinning.

It seems insane that anyone would come on to a public forum and just crap on someone. No, a reasonable person does not do that without reason. Certainly not on AH, where many members are connected, informed and genuinely intend to help people. The devil is always in the details of the story, of which there were none provided in this case.

Now lets put the "crapping on someone" in perspective in todays world. Think Facebook, where any twit can post anything in incoherent short bursts supposing it passes off as informed discourse. Not the case on AH. Real people want answers and motives to trust what is being stated.

The cast of actors and the script:
Jared Habel
the person who works at or owns MJ Design Custom Cabinets out of Utah, USA who did a hunt his cousin with LVS (the focus of the "crapping"), uses a pseudonym/screen name (Michael Habel) for his internet hunt booking business (affordable african hunts) that sells hunts for Hunters Hill Safaris, has a username on AH of "Michaelh". (no idea yet if he is authorized to sell for HHS. He has hunted there 4x apparently)

The Script:
Bash an Outfitter you have hunted with after waiting several YEARS.
Don't answer reasonable questions with any detail.
When confronted, blame the person asking questions.
It only raises more questions.
Claim you are not promoting a business in the face of evidence to the contrary. o_O

The Trail (tracking job):
The AH Avatar (sable trophy) for "Michaelh" perfectly matches the photo used by affordableafricanhunts on their website. (Google image is a great search vehicle)
Further digging (simple public access WHOIS search) finds the owner of the website affordable african hunts is MJ Custom Cabinets out of Utah. This is the company website mjcustomcabinets dot com where the picture and name of Jared Habel (real name) is displayed for all to see on the website. The picture also matches the person in the Sable Avatar on AH.

Hope that helps. :D

Dave replied to my Whatsapp request at 02:30 AM his time and stayed up until later than 05:00 his time sending me detailed documentation, as outlined earlier. He knew exactly what could happen to his business with this crap.

Wow what a crap move. Thanks for clarifying. I will view any post by him with extreme skepticism in the future.

Anyone have Greg Harvey's personal email address or Whatsapp?

Post it here or PM me.

I would dearly like to ask him if this is the kind of person he wants representing Hunters Hill Safaris?

I have Greg's details now from three sources and will be contacting him when I get a moment.

Here is the imagined picture from his end::E Confused: :A Bang Head::A Blowup:

Members of the AfricaHunting.com community, friends, or as I often say : "Brothers in Arms"...

Some of you may have followed a couple of threads I participated in and may have noted that I did hunt at Huntershill and that I developed a personal relationship with Greg Harvey. One of you was actually kind enough to send me a personal message today and to ask me to intervene here, and to reach out to Greg Harvey, the owner of Huntershill.

I just did.

While I am not speaking on behalf of Greg, I can share with you at this stage that Greg has asked me to represent Huntershill on africahunting.com and that this will happen in the very near future. A few technical details are currently falling in place. Our host, Jerome, will be able to verify the truthfulness of my statement if need be. We are in the process of putting together a sponsor and advertiser package for Huntershill on africahuting.com.

I do not know the Original Poster, nor do I have any relationship of whatever nature with him, nor do I operate a booking business, nor do I have any business of any other interest in the matter that may support or compete with his business. I am happily and gainfully employed full time in a completely different line of work, but I am just happy to help my friend Greg become a sponsor of africahunting.com because I see incredible value in africahunting.com for the future of hunting in Africa; and I also see a great opportunity for Huntershill to reach the specialized, highly competent and repeat hunters that frequent africahunting.com.

I would simply like to assure each and everyone of you that Greg Harvey as an individual and Huntershill as a business are ABSOLUTELY and ENTIRELY disconnected from any action the Original Poster has taken, or statements he has made, or will make, regarding Leopard Valley Safaris and/or Dave Davenport who are well respected members of our hunting community, and I KNOW FOR A FACT that Greg is viscerally opposed to any action, by anyone using the Huntershill name that could be, or could have the appearance of being, unfair, slanderous, defamatory, or in ANY WAY UNETHICAL. This is simply not what Greg or Huntershill are about, and quite frankly, neither Greg personally, as the very successful head of the Queen Group and its 350 employees (http://queengroup.co.za/about-us); the head of Huntershill and its 80 employee (http://www.huntershillsafaris.co.za/); and the head of Comre Safaris (https://comresafaris.co.za/), nor Huntershill have any need to use any but the most above board marketing to offer their very high quality hunts.

Huntershill has been in business for 19 years, they hunt over 70 species on 188 square miles of private hunting properties and they have a 97% clients return rate. Greg has no need, and no time, for any 'negative selling" or unethical behavior. His success is his best marketing tool.

On behalf of Greg and the Huntershill team, and despite the fact that neither Greg nor Huntershill had anything to do with this regrettable incident, I would like to extent the most sincere apologies to Leopard Valley Safaris and Dave Davenport, and to the afriachunting.com community for this outburst that is the fact of one individual and does not reflect on Greg Harvey or Huntershill's character or business ethics.

Sincerely;
Pascal

@One Day... I look forward to your tenure on AH being a representative for HHS. I just found out about the background on this just now.
As I expected Greg's reaction would not be positive. I appreciate you jumping in.

This OP is purportedly hunting at HHS this year. I hope that he will be told to cease and desist from selling anything for HHS.

I’ll show my ignorance. What’s an OP?

Original Poster. (OP)

The guy who started the thread. In this case, the whole mess.

Seems light for even a cull hunt. I called him out on this earlier, but received no response. I posited that $1950, 5 days, 5 animals, is not a legitimate hunt, corners are being cut somewhere. OP did not respond.

I added a couple for the near term.
Was trying to figure out if he was "not trying to promote his business" or when this started to go bad for him you added them. Either way this didn't go how he thought it would.

Don’t hold your breath awaiting a reply from this guy. I suspect he is Loooooong Gone!

Hello Doug,
I am Philippe from France and plan to go hunting Caprivi in 2026, Oct.
I have read on AH you had some time in Vic Falls after hunting. May I ask you with whom you have planned / organized the Chobe NP tour and the different visits. (with my GF we will have 4 days and 3 nights there)
Thank in advance, I will appreciate your response.
Merci
Philippe

Hi Walden. Good morning from England, Chris here (The Englishman!) from Croatia. Firstly it was a pleasure to meet you and Michelle - a fellow Sanderson! I have finally joined AH as I enjoy it very much. Glad you enjoyed the hunt and your write up which I read on AR was very good indeed. I am sending on WhatsApp pics from Bojan of some of the animals hunted recently. Take care and best regards. CS.
