SCI convention in Las Vegas.jpg

At this year’s SCI Annual Hunters Convention, Wintershoek Safaris had a hunt giveaway. All that was required to enter, was for people to put their business cards in a bowl. The winner was drawn at the end of the convention, and it was Cindy Manning who walked away with this once-in-a-lifetime prize!!

The prize included the following:
A hunt at one of Wintershoek Safaris’s privately owned hunting areas in South Africa, which included 6 nights for one hunter and one observer, as well as trophy fees for:
1 x Blue Wildebeest
1 x Gemsbuck
1 x Springbuck

Four months have passed since the convention and Cindy and Bart Manning finally made their way over to the Dark Continent. They arrived at our own Gamagara Game ranch in the Kalahari desert on the 24th of May 2018 where professional hunter, Yvan Nieuwoudt and the rest of the Gamagara crew where waiting for them in camp.

Here is Yvan’s take on the hunt:
Bart is a salted old “Dagga Boy” when it comes to hunting in Africa, but this time it was all about Cindy!!

By the third day, Cindy managed to bag her 3 species that were included in the price. She did it all on a fair chase hunt on foot as well as only firing of 3 rounds. Excellent shooting Cindy!

On the fourth day, we spotted a huge sable bull that most certainly was hard not to have a second look at. During that evening we discussed our options in regards to going after that sable again the next day. Early the next morning, we got on to the bull’s track and finally caught up to him at about 11:30 am. Cindy managed to make a great shot at the magnificent animal at about 70 yards and it went down within moments. It was one of those bull’s that only a few hunters will ever get the chance of hunting measuring an amazing 44 inches. An amazing job was done by Josh the tracker and to Cindy for keeping up, as well as keeping calm when the “show” was on.

A copper springbuck and a huge warthog also made it to the skinning shed on the last day which truly made the hunt a major success.

Cindy Manning’s name has since changed to “ONE SHOT CINDY”

It truly was a pleasure working with Cindy and Bart that understand Africa’s conservation efforts through sustainable utilization of our natural wildlife.

We wish to carry on with the competition at both Dallas Safari Club and Safari Club International in the future.

We can with all surety say that we have made friends for life and that’s what hunting should be all about.

Bon Voyage Cindy and Bart

Till we meet again.

Remember, if you want to stand a chance at winning a similar hunt like this next year, make your way over to our booths at DSC and SCI. Do not miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity!

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
