He did his rounds with republican senators yesterday who no doubt told him some hard truths.
Glad I didn't take your bet. ;)

Gaetz resigned from the 118 Congress. Guess worst case he may go back and be reseated in the 119 Congress.

I thought this was interesting today. The author was one of my instructors at NWC. As one of the commenters points out, it does at good job of outlining the problems without really identifying how the proposed solution will work, but nevertheless it is still worth the read. We do have a real problem that must be solved.

I remain hopeful they'll call Paxton and offer him the AG position...

Hes a fairly hard right winger.. but should be palatable enough for the centrists and have no problem getting confirmed.. whose already been deeply involved in the border situation at the state level.. and is known for being very tough on crime.. he's also gone after Blackrock and other huge corporate entities for actions of malfeasance.. he has no problem going after the fed govt either and led the charge against the Obama administration on multiple occasions, building coalitions of states in the pursuit of legal action, etc..

Would that reopen the inquiry that was closed when he resigned?

Is Gaetz cutting a deal for Rubio's seat?

I'm all for Trump getting an AG appointment that can shake the Flea's out of the DOJ, FBI, and other agencies, as well as indictments for many that deserve it.
Trump needs to stand firm against the Swamp RINO pushback, who will posture and maneuver to try and get who they want.

Are DeSantis and Gaetz politically aligned? I wouldn't say for sure, but this may have been a ploy to get Gaetz out of every Republican's hair.

Political deals are made that dont always fit the mould of political alignment.
I don't see Trump as the type of guy to play games with Gaetz, unless someone else is behind it.

Possibly. I think the 119 Congress would have to determine that. The Democrats would certainly push but it would depend on what Johnson does. With McCarthy out of the House, Johnson might shut it down and keep the focus on Trump policies, seeing the ethics complaint as a distraction.

There are probably more Congressmen than we realize worthy of an ethics investigation. At some point the rule of glass houses comes to bare. I could see a MTG or Boebert start throwing stones in every direction which most in Congress don't want to see happen if Gaetz is removed, but who knows.

To answer your question, I don't know.

Agree with everything you say. I would love to see Paxton as AG. He would probably have an uphill battle including his own Senator.

I wouldn't put anything past Trump.

I read today that if he does go back to Congress the ethics complaint against him could or would be restarted. Rumors I'm hearing is that Trump will put him in a position that doesn't require Senate approval.

I have always heard that there is a multi million dollar slush fund for congressmen to use as hush money, I hope this is an old wives tail but I wouldn’t put anything past them.

Possibly more rumors but I read that Collins, Murkowski, Curtis and McConnell would not back down.

It has been published multiple times that in the 20 years leading up to around 2019, the fund had paid out $17m if I recall correct. It would be interesting to see if a ledger entry includes Joe Scarborough and the estate of his staffer.

On the sex trafficking claim by the DoJ, the same DoJ with what I understand about a quarter of their FISA applications were perjured or otherwise defective in the last 4 years?

DOJ hasn’t claimed anything or filed any charges. This is a congressional ethics inquiry- led by a Republican majority most of whom will never forgive him for the ouster of McCarthy.

Exactly!

Here is another front lawn to drop Gang members on. Give them all her personal address and phone number.

Yes, go ahead Democrats, double down and support illegals over citizens! Let’s see how that works out in the midterms!

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
