SOUTH AFRICA: Hunt With Cruiser Safaris

Looks like you had a great safari.Lots of nice animal. Great BW and nice mass on the Nyala. I have used the Barnes TTSX and really like the penetration. You'll find lots of fans of them here on AH. My taxidermist was over earlier this year. They killed 31 animals, all 1 shot kills using Accubonds. Lots of good bullets to choose from. Bruce

Enjoying the talk about the 300 WM I just got a Ruger 1 in 300 WM but have never shot Barnes so if you have any more info I will be using it for Elk and Mule Deer I hope.

I have killed several deer and elk with the TTSX. The only thing that I don't like is the BC. If you are doing any long range shooting then they may not be optimal. Anywhere under 500 yards they will work gReat. You can use them with confidence. Bruce

I have a nikon scope on it and the attachment is from a zero of 200 yards so I am going to pick up a box and see if I can zero it at 200 yd. I don't see me shooting over 300 yds. I can shoot a small rock at 300 with the SST? That is what I picked when I got the rifle.

Well
My hunt was nearly identical to other posts .
1. Food was good
2.accomadations were good
3. Guide and tracker was excellent .
4.Animals were plentiful but I did not know it was a high fence hunt.
But they all are down there .
Crusaders I am told are the only
Free range hunt around S Africa.
Staff was outstanding.
Cannot give a kind review to the owner. He had continual pranks
That were not appreciated.
I was 7 weeks post spinal surgery.
I only went because my hunting partner would have to travel alone.
I had no business doing this hunt .
Pain meds were non stop.
Even knowing my situation he put rocks in my bag. Made me way over weight. That wasn't funny and not appreciated.
This is the gods truth.

Bob,
There are plenty of Outfits that will take you on an open farm to hunt.
Sad you were not aware of your hunt circumstances.

Pranks surrounding an injury would not likely be appreciated by anyone. Ouch.
Hope you heal sooner than later.
When you are up to it please share some photos of your hunt.

Peter does have lots of pranks. They served wine one night and put vinegar in my glass. I drank the whole thing and didn't grimace. I try not to let people get one over on me.!!!

Cruiser Safaris: I am glad I look at these threads since I plan on going back to SA and I would not put up with this kind of BS and pay for it so I am glad I heard about it before I booked a hunt with them. I would say that any one that reads this block this company from any hunt in the future.

Yes, it sounds like you should block them from all of your future hunts. A no nonsense, serious, hardcore hunter like you needs a complete to the point outfitter who is a super crack shot, big time, absolute, Putin type. You know, no laughing, punish you if you miss, food should be plain so you suffer because you have to be hardcore. Hike 20 miles a day with a backpack and don't forget to have no water. That is key. No provisions. Matter of fact fast. Fast as much as possible. That is hardcore. While your at it self harm is a must to. If you miss or can't keep up you should self harm or stand all night with out sleep. That's the kind of outfitter that could just be the one you would want.

Wow you can run words together better than any one that I know. I am sorry but when I am paying for the hunt I don't need a PH or Owner that wants to be cute with a hunt. Hike all you want but to get an off color joke when you get back to camp is kind of nonprofessional.
Bad Wine rocks in your bed doesn't seem like some one that is a PPPH.
I stick to my statement!!!!!

It sucks that the OPs great hunt report FROM 4 YEARS AGO was highjacked by someone complaining about a hunt they just did.

I for one, appreciate humor and pranks around a hunting lodge/camp. All of my favorite PHs and outfitters I have booked with like to have a little fun to pass time. I was happy to find out that most of the outfitters in Africa have a great sense of humor like they do in the hunt camps of Alaska and Canada. Hunters and fishermen love to prank each other (its part of the culture), and as long as there is no damage to property and nobody gets seriously hurt, it is a welcome part of the experience to me.

Bob, you sound like an overly-sensitive individual that probably was in no physical or mental condition to be hunting anyway. So a rock placed in your backpack as a joke is enough to ruin an otherwise great trip? I hope you were not hopped up on pain killers while you were walking around hunting with a loaded firearm?

You made the statement that you had no business going on this hunt, and that is probably the bottom line. Sounds like the injured back was just too much.

Ohhh Bob, telling Peiter that if he doesn't give you a refund that you are going to go to "great lengths to damage them" is pathetic. Like with 90% of all internet complaints, once you get both sides of the story the real scenario manifests itself. In the states, we call that extortion.

You want a very successful hunt refunded because a rock was put in a bag as a joke????????

I noticed you have your "1st post" on several forums with the same thing. I know this sounds harsh, but you are the type of client that no outfitter ever wants to deal with.

Well if Peter is giving out refunds, than I am going to demand one myself. I truly think he should fly me back over so I can have a do over. You know, a clean slate restart. I'll start with a sable and bushbuck. If Peter repents and is submissive, I'll let him buy me a waterbuck. Plus I want revenge on those damn Elands. I could hear those bastards laughing at me as they ran off. I think Peter paid them to play tricks on me. I don't appreciate that...being no nonsense and all.

Say what you must.
Pieter was told in advance of my limited abilities. I love fun as much as the next guy.
My PH made this trip happen.I suffered a huge heart attack shortly after returning. My third.
The trip was planned a year ago.
Again
Food great
Animals great
Staff excellent
Pieter spoiled a lifetime dream by just relentless pranks.
His son slammed my shoulders from behind while reading in the lounge.
I told them I was 7 weeks post spinL surgery.
Pieter agreed to a refund and then renigged.
That's fine. A shame such a great adventure had to spoiled by childish
Relentless bullshit.
I said nothing and said goodbyes.
I got a lengthy questionare and answered honestly.
That's when he rebutted my assessment.
There were 4 others in camp.
I have hunted many places and countries always being asked to come back as with Pieter also.
I have just learned another lesson.
It was not just a rock in my bag that made this uncomfortable.
My PH and I laughed a lot.
Hunting with him was great.
When I was too tired we took the afternoon off. I tipped very well far above suggested if that tells you anything. Then left on good terms.
Am I a perfect person , not at all.
It is my fault I didn't confront the issue
When he crawled under the table
Grabbed my leg and put a rubber
Tarantula on my crotch.
I asked my hunting partner how to handle him and he said he would hit him hard.
Not wanting to spoil my last hunt
Caused me to try hard to get along.
I have more money than Pieter so I told him I was not interested in extortion.
For the record I was successful on my hunt.
Funny I t was posted that I was kind and was invited to return on face book.
I have not posted any where else.
I am a sad that it finished this way.
Cruisers being a top notch outfit will
Continue to do well without my business.
Respectfully
Bob Daymon

You are just sarcastic.
I am none of the above.
I am also a person with disabilities.
Thanks for your response.

Hello Mr. Daymon,

Reading all the latest post, I would respectfully suggest you start a new post about your hunt with Cruiser Safaris. Instead of using someone else's post. I hunted with Cruiser Safaris, and even thought I am ok with pranks, my wife was not, specially when he put a snake around her legs. We did get Pieter back with the vinegar & hot sauce in the wine. My best friend and his wife who were hunting with us as well didn't like the pranks at all. I think this is a touchy situation, because not everyone reacts the same, specially if they have a phobia for a certain animal or bug.

I'd love to see pictures of your trophies, and I am sure most members would too. Good luck to you sir, and wish you a speedy recovery.

Never I 35 years of hunting have I had a situation like this.
I will post pictures if I can figure out how.
S Africa is not what I expected.
The place is magnificent.
