SOUTH AFRICA: BWH 2.0 Official Report

Nice report and congrats again!

@BWH, can you comment on the process of taking firearms on Emirates? Difficult? No big deal? Somewhere in between? What exactly you had to do?

You bet.... It was literally no big deal. They have the form on their website. I called them & they said do not submit until 14 days prior to flight. So I did, a few days later & received confirmation. Upon walking into Terminal D at DFW, a gentleman in a suit walked up to me, "Mr. Hempkins, we've been waiting for you." He escorted me through all of the process, inviting my family to accompany me. Then told me when I was done saying our goodbyes, to get with him & he ushered me to priority security check point. So very much all good. BTW, their flight attendants are hot. From all over the world.

@BWH thanks for sharing a great report and congrats on all your success! That was some beautiful country you hunted in!

Yes sir..... What I was expecting to get the first few hours at the start of the safari, was actually the last couple of hours of the hunt. Learned a lot from this trip.

I learned that KZN has some beautiful country!

Good report and looks like a great hunt. Love the reedbuck. Looks like a very nice ram. Good looking Eland too. Thanks for sharing. Bruce

Thank you @gillettehunter! They were all hard fought for. Grateful for all of them.

I always appreciate it when a guy writes up a detailed hunt report and tops it off with fantastic pictures. BWH, you did both very well, and I greatly appreciate the effort. Congrats to you on a great adventure and some hard earned trophies. Sounds like you worked for them, the way it should be. Thanks!

Thank you @JGRaider. That means a lot coming from a fellow Texan & accomplished hunter.

Without all that energy and frustration it just would not be hunting.
Congratulations on a good hunt and success.

Thanks for the effort.

Great report @BWH . I especially like the line about the Emirate flight attendants. I'll have to remember that.

What about your equipment and rifles? Any new wisdom aquired? What rifles did you bring? What load did you use on the eland?

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.
