SOUTH AFRICA: Back In The US

Very nice warthog! Glad you had so much success on your hunt. What kind of taxidermy work are you going to have done? That Nyala would make a nice mount.

Congratulations.......some nice trophies there.

Thanks for sharing.

I am going over the top this time. Last time I had the work done in SA and this time I am having it done in the states with Artistry of Wildlife. I am having a wall pedestal mount of the Nyala to with my Kudu from 2012. I promised to have a shoulder mount if the Warthog but I think if their is enough skin on the cape I will have that be a pedestal mount also. The other two will be skull mounts. Now it is just the waiting game.

Hi Bhfs300,

Great trophies and sounds like you had a great experience with Bushman's Quiver....

I won a 7 day hunt here at the Sacramento, Ca Sportsmans show for 2016 ...

Was wondering if you could give me more specifics on your Safari with Bushman's Quiver...Obviously you had a great hunting experience....

I am bringing my wife and in addition to the hunting I will plan to add some more days to site see in the area, i.e. Kruger park, Petroglyphs, ZIPLining and I understand that there is some fishing available during the down time at one of the main camps.

How were the accommodations? (food, camp services, PHs, staff, etc.)

Can u expound on that part of the experience as I want to make sure my wife (non-hunter) gets to enjoy that part for her..I probably will join her on some activities....

Also, is the game plentiful ? I am interested in plains game bow/rifle ...Black wildebeest, Zebra, Warthog, Red hartebeest, etc.

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bob

Well you must have already read the hunting day synopsis. I wanted to get some pictures that I didn't get to do on my Archery Hunt in 2012. My trip might be a little different than yours in 2016. They had some problems with their came so I was staying at two different camps. They were both great. The first was on a a property that had been a bow hunting location. The new owner had built a camp there since there wasn't one before. The place was great and very comfortable see photo.

The above picture is of one of the bow blinds and pond that was near the camp.
This is the place I got the Impala and Warthog. Very nice, great meals good hunting.

The second place I went was almost over the top 5 star. It was the home on another place that was turned into a up scale resort. The owners were living in another home on the land and there you had everything you or your wife could want.

I did want to see some other things this time so we my PH and I went to the Entabeni Reserve for a photo safari where I got to see and take pictures of many African animals where they were not spooked. I also did the Mystic Monkey zoo and enjoyed that a lot. Other things they have listed as side trips for you and your wife could be fun also. The baby Tigers were great almost better than hunting.

Bob,

It sounds like you are in for a heck of a good time. :)

Tom,

Thanks for the reply.....

I will be bringing a rifle and bow and will use as I see fit.

Are all the blinds on stilts or are there pit blinds too?

And, I assume there are spot and stalk rifle areas?

thanks

Wow, awesome trip, and outstanding trophies! That warthog is a whopper!!!!! Thanks for sharing!

HI

Is there a SCI member out there that can tell me how a Warthog is scored?
I have been trying to get it but unless you are a member you can't get it anymore.

Length of both tusks plus circumstance of each tusk or plus length of each lower tusks??? Gold 34 1/8 not sure how?

Tom

Thanks Royal 27

Gladly! It is a pain to find.... or it was for me the first time I looked!

Would love to hear what that monster of yours scores.

I am waiting for the boiling to get done. I want to know also.

Do you have an idea what a good circumference for a Tusk might be?

i am thinking 13 3/8 and 14 2/8 for the lengths??

:)

I honestly don't. I'm sure others will chime in though.

All that I can say is whatever the circumference is on that pig, is a good one!

Hi Tom,

Just wanted to update u on my hunt with Bushmans Quiver that my wife and I went on last Nov/Dec2016.

FC/Pungi were our PH & Tracker too.....

I used my rifle instead of bow as earlier in the year i hurt my shoulder and could not draw it back.

My Griffin & Howe sporterized M1903 Springfield performed well and I harvested many nice trophies. Here are some pics....

My wife Tatyana and I did some sightseeing on down time...we did the Elephant Interaction and made a trip to Kruger...

Will and to this post with more pics later....

Did not get an opporunity for a Warthog as i am told the males are not out and about as much in daytime during Nov/Dec like they are in SA Winter months May thru August during mating time.

If i am lucky I will get a chance on another trip to the African Continent.
