So the family has officially made the call to go on Safari in 2026 Summer...joining the forum to research...

Welcome to the great forum on earth. You learn a lot. Lots of knowledge and good folks willing to share. You have made a choice.

Welcome. We did the family trip to RSA last year and it was incredible. Ask lots of questions around here!

Welcome to AH. Lots of invaluable information here. Take advantage of the archives and ask questions. The sponsors on the site are all excellent. And the odds are good you will be encouraged to buy a .375HH!

Greetings RedSox90210,

Khomas Highland Hunting and Fishing Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

You are doing right by conducting thorough research prior to embarking on your all important first hunting trip to Africa.

On that note, it looks like you have selected a safari company and now are down to what equipment to bring and logistic related details of this endeavor.
Planning is part of the excitement for sure.

I look forward to your hunt report,
Also, photos are worth their weight in gold around here.

Best Regards,
Velo Dog.

So I've been excited to do this trip for years and it's a bucket list thing for me. Dad and I grew up reading and talking all things related to African hunting. Now dad's 85 and won't be able to go with us but the boys and I are gonna do it. Cannot wait. More to come but hello!!!!
Read up on the safari planning section here and my YouTube videos on safari planning. They will answer many questions and set you up for a great safari with your dad!

Hello and welcome!

Welcome to the addiction. We are here to educate and empower it!

Welcome! Lots of folks who have just done their first trip that woukd be happy to share the "I wish I had done that a little different" as well as seasoned vets with tons to share for you. In terms of questions, ask and ye shall receive...TONS of answers.

And I used a .300 WM on my (only) trip last year for plains game. It was plenty. But I got a .375 recently and am really enjoying that too. Part of the sickness I guess...

Welcome you are definitely in the right place

Welcome! My wife and I just went on our first safari and had the trip of a lifetime! Feel free to reach out with questions!

Wow, the joy your father will experience over the next year hearing you talk about your upcoming hunt to Africa! I was blessed to do 3 hunts in Africa with my Dad. In his later years, especially the time he spent in the nursing home, he really enjoyed the pictures and stories I would share of my hunts to Africa! It brought great joy to his life! Thanks for being a blessing to your father!!

Welcome to AH. You are about to embark on the hunt of a lifetime and if you are like most of us will become addicted to Africa. Sorry your father can’t make the trip, so take a lot of pictures for him to see.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?
