Nope I live in Western Australia we have THE worst licensing requirements in the world..... Besides I would much rather go for a 500 Jeffery or Nitro :) or a nice double now....

You want to live in the UK buddy the licensing is all f£&cked up!

and its full of Poms so even better reason to stay out....:p

yeah especially after our performance in the rugby!

Wanderer I feel for you living in WA.

That is one nice looking rifle. The grain flow through the wrist is exactly what you want on a big kicker. I went 416 Rigby in the CZ simply because it was about $500 cheaper at the time.

I found Woodleigh 400grain Weldcores throw to the same POI as the Hydros. The lighter 340 grain Weldcore unfortunately land half way to the next postcode. Go hunt something with it, even rabbits.

Very nice gun!

There is not a hunter who does not dream of possessing a 404 Jeffery, it is natural, until you have a 404 Jeffery in your hands, shooting it, handling it is the only way to get rest for your yearning soul...but someday you will have the privilege to own a 404 Jeffery rifle, you just need to sell the .416 Rigby....:D(y)
You still have a great rifle, enjoy it and work from softer loads up to where you can shoot this caliber without discomfort..shooting a lot can be expensive when using shop ammo, do think of casting your own bullets to shoot a more affordable set up...use the premium bullets for hunting /cast bullets loads for practicing...(y)

Gert you have it slightly wrong. You yearn for a 404 until you get a 416 Rigby, then you say 404, what's that?:p:)

No,no you will find as time passes by, the yearning for something bigger , more deadlier is still there...until you have a 404 Jeffery in your hands...you will find you want to use it more and keep the .416 Rigby as your safe queen, it really comes natural...:D:D:LOL:

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Alzheimer's will have set in by then and I'll be lucky to remember my name let alone what a calibre is:(

Gert I've been shooting this a bit at the Big Game Rifle club, seem to be shooting it better than my 375H&H:unsure: As for the 404J maybe oneday but its going to be hard to part with the rigby! Besides I need(well want but who is being picky!) something in a double and something containing a 5!.... Plenty of time to research and plan

The Wanderer, enjoy your large bore caliber, the best rifle for you is the rifle you shoot with, it is always a joy to be enthusiastic about a rifle a person shoots well with, I really enjoy my 404 Jeffery since it fit me extremely well and I shoot accurate with it , there is a a great story behind my 404 Jeffery and it make it just that much more special to me...(y) I already add my own story , piece of history to my 404 Jeffery, we are growing together:D...

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

Hello. If you haven't already sold this rifle then I will purchase. Please advise. Thank you.

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
