Smokeless powder shortage on the way?

"Similar to Unique"? Wow, I'd like to find a "similar" to RL15 powder for about half price?
Yeah, that's what this was. The whole 10 pounds cost me 250 delivered to my door step. They've gotten better about publishing the "similar to _______" in their descriptions in the last year or so. They go through inventory quick so it's one site I actually signed up for the emails on, otherwise I'd never have gotten in on this order for instance. They had 100+ 5# jugs that sold out in about 4 hours.

I need blue dot... I will get to enjoy my 8-bore right up until this one pound runs dry

I mean, if you're up for a road trip Sportsmans Warehouse in Rohnert Park , CA and Cheyenne, WY both show some in stock for $40/lb.

I used to travel for work a lot and one thing that I loved is that Covid made it so I could drive instead of flying. I knew every SW location across the country and hit them as pit stops and would just come home loaded (hehehehe) with components that no one else in my home state could find. It worked out really well.

For instance, during the deepest part of the component shortage, I was working around Portland OR and would hit all three stores there and sometimes the one up the road in Longview and just take my primer allotments for the day. Built a sizeable stash that way when no one else could find anything.

Would make for a fun trip on the bike... If we weren't in the middle of winter :E Rofl:

About the only time that I purchase powder in 1 lb bottles is when I am developing a load.

Other than that I'll buy it in the next largest jugs that I can, either 5 or 8 lbs at a time. Then once that hits around half of a jug I can start looking for it again. Same with primers, A minimum of 1000 at a time. I still have enough primers to last me quite a while before I need to see if I can scrounge more of them up but being 71 they might last me out.

I learned to do this back with Clinton was President.

i got caught short handed on reloading supplies during the summer of mostly peaceful protests when overnight shelves went from fully stocked, to not a single round of .22lr available.. and no powders or primers available for almost a year..

not again...

between loaded ammo and supplies on the bench, Ive got enough to last me well past the time I am called to take a forever nap..

If I run out of anything for any platform I've got in the safe, its because the zombie apocalypse started and we're a full 2 years into the fight..

How come the more I buy, the less it feels like "enough"?

No one seems to know WHY this is happening........but lots of potential factors.....raging wars, politics, green changes, shipping disasters, WEF influence, or just a push to get higher prices? Stock up now...........FWB

Never hurts to keep a flintlock or 2 on hand…… I can go out in the back yard and pick up primers, BP is relatively easy to make…… just sayin
I need a flintlock 8-bore to go with my double

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.
