Hi everyone. I'm a new double rifle owner and a new member of the board. I've always dreamed of owning a double rifle, don't ask me why because I don't know, and finally fulfilled that dream with a nice little Siace Alaska Lusso in .45-70. I haven't fired the rifle yet as I plan to develope some loads for it, but this leads me to my question. The certificate that came with the rifle states the pressione (pressure) as 2860 kg/cm2. This works out to 40678 psi or 38641 CUP. I wasn't sure if this was the proof test pressure or the maximum normal pressure that it can be loaded to so I emailed the company and received a reply that stated something to the effect that this is the maximum pressure. The response was a little hard to read as the sender was probably Italian with limited English, but at least they tried. So what I need to know is if the pressure on the certificate is the proof pressure or the maximum normal load pressure. Sure hope someone can shed some light on this so I can start experimenting with different loads. Oh and by the way they did send the factory ammo info that they regulated the rifle with along with the target. Thanks.

Doug

Welcome aboard and congrats!

Dougfinn 1st welcome to AH. Earlier this year I picked up a SIACE 45/70 similar to yours. (Pictures please). You will find my post here in the double rifle section as well.

I worked up loads for 350 gr hornaday and hawk softs. and 405 gr rem bulk bullets. Still working on a load for CEB and or Northfolk solids. The loads are all below 34K PSI so If you want to PM me I can look up what my loads are to give you a starting point. My rifle shoots very well. Hope yours does also.

Thanks AZDAVE. I hope my pic posting works. When I figure out how to pm I'll contact you and get your load info. Seeing as how you have the same model as me I'd like to know how stiff your triggers are. Mine seem very heavy. Is this a double rifle thing or do mine need adjusting?

Nice rifle! I sent you a PM with some load data that you can use as a starting point.

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
