Show us your Hat

This hat has me in turmoil, I love it, got custom measured for it but the price tag has me hung up! I could put a new 1-6 VX-6 on my 458 Lott. But damn I like it!

Beautiful assortment of hat's Adam. Did the hat bring any luck with the fish ?

Thanks, I'm not sure it's gotten me any more fish, but it has saved me from hooking myself in the ear due to a bad cast more than once. If that's luck, I'll take it!

I don't know Bullthrower338, that does look like a pretty good one. Not that I'm an enabler or anything.

Hat looks pretty darn sharp! Tough call...

Namibia gets toasty, my head would be a sweating like mad with anything heavy like felt. Linen Driving caps have kept my bald head from frying.

I'm not a real dedicated hat-man, generally they are just something that I slap on my head as I'm leaving the house. I generally have one or two that are my regulars until they get too grimy, then I replace them.

BUT....I have been wearing the same hat for rifle hunting now since around 2002 or 2003. Here in Saskatchewan it is the law that during rifle seasons our hats must be blaze orange, yellow or red. In 2002 my non-hunting brother was working in a tire shop and they got in a case of promotional hats with an order of tires that happened to be red. He gave me one because he thought I could use it when hunting. Now this was one ugly hat, but since he was doing something nice, I wore it that season. And the next, and the next. Pretty soon I started to get a little superstitious about not wearing it, as I managed to take some pretty nice animals while wearing it. It has been crushed flat in the back seat of my truck and stuffed in bags countless times. It's dirty. My girlfriend hates it even existing in the house. But I won't let her wash it or throw it out.

I had been hunting with the hat for 4 years already in this pic from 2006, but it's the earliest digital photo I could find of it. Still looks pretty good though.

Last season. Both hat and hunter have seen better days! But I can't wait to get it out and get some successful hunt pics with it for 2016!

Here is a funny picture of my hat. Every time I left it on a table to sit down for dinner, someone would pick it up and placed it somewhere else. :sneaky:

I'd say get it. A quality felt hat can last almost as long as that scope will. Beaver or rabbit felt is extremely durable. Getting them wet is no problem and if they get sat on or crushed a little water and or steam and a little had shaping puts them right back

Yes the Walmart greeting job morphed into stocking the shelves from 11-7. Edward was getting all the hours greeting so I had to do something. Anyway the extra job pays for the nice stuff! Like new hats!

My favorite three hats at the moment. Note the pins on the middle hat! They are hard to find so if anyone knows a place to order various African animals let me know!

what hat are you wearing at wal-mart?

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
