Show us some Fiberglass!

This is my Accuracy X custom rifle in 6.5 x 284. It is built on their propriatary action in a Scocky's stock.
The rifle sports a 28" medium Palma contour barrel. I had it built as a dual purpose hunting and long range target rifle. If I ever bring a rifle to Africa purposely for baboons, this will be it.

This was a photo of her with the test target before leaving Accuracy X.

Stainless Mark V, 7mm Weatherby Mag. Nothing fancy, but accurate and practical for bad weather.

You often hear that "fiberglass is cold." In fact, its thermal conductivity coefficient is not much different from wood. Coniferous woods are "warmer", but not much, and heavy deciduous woods, from which buttocks are made, are almost equivalent to fiberglass.

This is a 7mmPRC that I had built from a 338 Win Mag. You have to “make a plan” when you are a lefty and really like Winchester Model 70s. Did quite well on deer this season here at home with the Federal 170 grain terminal ascents. Hope to try it out on some bigger stuff at some point. View attachment 660820View attachment 660821
First off, it was wonderful meeting and chatting with you at the AH get together last weekend, I really enjoyed my time that evening. Second, if you end up using the 170 grain Terminal Ascent on Africa game, please let us know how they perform. From what I've read they should do extremely well.

So, no muzzle brake on the 340 Weatherby, but a brake on the 22-250?
This hits close to home. :-) My daughter has been shooting my unbraked (heavy) .340 Weatherby since she was 12. I happen to have a Weatherby Super Varmintmaster (the later heavy barreled synthetic version) in .22-250 that has a brake. :-). The guy who bought it from had it set up for prairie dogs and lost access to his area before he could use it. Fairly heavy rifle and with the brake and heavy scope it was an anticipated he could confirm all results with no muzzle rise. I have never even had a scope of it, but in a situation where you can have hearing protection and it is not a stalking/hunting rifle, it may make “sense” for lack of a better word.

@Andew62, I quite enjoyed our conversation as well on Friday at the get together. It was a good time. I do plan on taking it this year and using the 170 Terminal Ascents. If time allows, I’ll be after red hartebeest, blue wildebeest, kudu and possibly a roan. I will report back on how they preform. I hope to shoot a few pigs with it between now and August.

how do you like the Meopta on your .458 WM?

Yeah it's a great scope. Extremely clear glass. The red dot is great for dark bovines in thick cover or low light.

Just copied pictures from another thread. Tip Burns .404 J. I’ve since swapped out the rings and scope.

What? No love for the boat paddle? My .280rem might be the last rifle I’d get rid of….

Well at least it’s a 7mm.
I don’t think.280 gets much support in factory offerings in Australia.
We did see the boat paddle stocks here. Second hand boat paddle stocked Rugers still get a fair price here.

280rem and 280ai have both grown in popularity quite a bit in recent years in the states….most factory ammo manufacturers now loads them. Great calibers

Surprisingly, The boat paddle Rugers are now selling 3-5 times what they were new.

I've never been a fan of fiberglass rifles and until recently the only one I owned was the 340 Weatherby Magnum on the right.
I always called this rifle my 'Meat Stick'. The 340 WM, like Thor's Hammer, near or far big or small whatever the weather with the Leupold scope and scope covers this combo has always gotten it done.

Then something happened. I decided I wanted to own a few more fiberglass rifles. On left is a Christensen Arms in 22-250 Remington and center is a Best of the West in 6.5 PRC that I just picked up for a Red Stag hunting this coming Sept. in Scotland.

I guess one has to keep their mind open or you'll miss out! Let's see your fiberglass....

Going to fly into Inverness and drive North West around 30 minutes to a few different estates just East of Lock Ness. Very excited since this will be my first hunt in Scotland.

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
You can see them in herds of a 100 plus together.

This excellent ram was taken with one of our previous client this past season.
