And another from this past trip. Old boy, Winchester 70 375 H&H w/Trijicon Accupoint 1x6, Barnes 300gn TSX two shots (second for insurance) at 21 big steps. First shot was head on just under the chin into the top of the brisket which took out the heart, he dropped to his knees,

and the second shot was in the top of the neck just below the hump with his head down hitting the spine and putting him down for good. It was western for a minute.

This old guy was taken 28 August 2024 near Musina in Limpopo. I used a Blaser R8 in .375 H&H with 350 gr. TSX bullets. Slightly quartering toward first shot to the shoulder at ~40 yds. dropped him straight down in his tracks. The bullet hammered both lungs and the upper section of the heart. My PH asked for 3 more to the spine for insurance but a later examination showed they weren't necessary. All the shots penetrated fully but did not exit.

I don't remember if I posted on this topic before but here are some recent 375 buff kills of mine...

this spring in Argentina on water buff at about 80 yards...random ammo of unknown specs, no bullet recovery

2 years ago in Limpopo, shot was about 50 yards, 300 TSX to base of throat, took 2-3 steps and went down, no bullet recovery

one of the toughest tests for a bullet is a croc spine...I have not seen one exit on that shot...300 TSX at 35 yards...bullet recovered

Hunted in Limpopo this April. Shot my buffalo with a winchester model 70 SE 375 H&H. Shot was just under 100 yards, barnes 300 grain TSX, high shoulder, broadside. He dropped instantly and the death bellow was almost immediate. I put one more in him as he was on his side. Bullet recovered had lost a petal.

June of this year with Africa Maximum Safaris
375 Ruger hand load to 2550 fps with the 300 grain Barnes TSX.
One shot slightly quartering away at about 60 yards. The buff went about 40 yards and bellowed.

My buddy’s buff was shot with a 375 Ruger using 300 grain DGX. 6 Shots although the first one dropped him and then he got up. There was also two shots from a 500 NE. One was a pass through. The other was a head shot the did not reach the brain.
Only one DGX was recovered. None of the DGX passed through. The others may have been in the stomach.

Bullets recovered from the buffaloes. The Barnes vs the DGX.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
