@Rich s just curious if you got an exit wound at that velocity with Barnes x? I’m shooting 300gr Barnes TSX at 2701 (average) out of a 24” barrel. VHT powder is amazing!

I never shot one with a 375 rather I used a 416 or 458 but my teenage son did!!

I did not with the tsx. We Found both of them of course the 1 was stuck in the spine the petals had came off of it. The 1st shot through the lungs we found stuck in between the ribs on the off side. And was the classic mushroom of the tsx.
I’m using rl15 out of a 24 inch barrel.

Winchester 70 375 H&H 24" barrel, Trijicon Accupoint 1x6, Barnes 300 Grain TSX. Shot distance appox 25/30 yards, impact point of shoulder and recovered intact under the skin on offside shoulder. Distance traveled from impact to recovery was appox 100 yards. SA 2023.

I took my first buffalo this past summer in June 2023 with my Win M70 Safari Express 375 H&H using a factory loaded Barnes 300 gr TSX. The bull was slightly quartering away at 75 yards, one shot kill took him thru the heart and lungs, he ran about 50 yards and we found him piled up just as the pic shows. Skinners found the perfectly mushroomed bullet in the far shoulder.

I shot my first Buffalo this past August with my Winchester Model 70 375 H&H built in 1967. Shot hand loads using Barnes 300 gr TSX bullets.
Bullets mushroomed perfectly but unfortunately they confiscated the bullets and spent cases going through security. They said it was ammunition and therefore illegal. They took me in a back room and interrogated me for about 15 minutes. Total scam trying to get money from me. I did not bite so I left without my two bullets and shell cases.
First shot was straight on as he was looking at me at 25 yards. Took out the top of his heart. Second shot was insurance down through the top of his back into the vitals.

Save Conservancy, 2019, Ruger No1 Tropical 375H&H, 300 grain Hornady DGS (I f I remember correctly). 140 metres, bad shot too far back, late in the day. Hair raising followup the next day, he hadnt gone far and war lying down, probably for the last time.

Man, you look happy! Congrats.

All these bulls are as individually different as people or snowflakes--and they are all BEAUTIFUL!

Here’s a bull my son shot in December of 2019 in Maswa North, Tanzania. Winchester M70 in . 375 H&H, shooting 300 grain TSX at about 2,400 fps. 1 shot at about 100 yards plus an insurance shot to finish him

And this bull in August of 2023 from Madaba, Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania. Same rifle & load. He shot this bull twice, at 30 yards, then 100 yards. It was laying on its side with lung blood pouring out of its nose. After the second death moan, I shot one of the remaining bulls, using my 416 Hoffman. A few quick shots and my bull was down after going only about 20 yards. When we turned back to look at my son’s ‘dead’ bull, it was gone! We tracked it for about an hour, and another shot from my son secured the bull for good. By gps, it had traveled a bit over 2 kilometers after being down & out.
Buffalo can be tough!

Limpopo South Africa 2022

Winchester Model 70 Safari Express 375 H&H

Handloaded Barnes 270 grains TSX.

First shot was centered on a directly facing buffalo at 90 yards. Bullet entered the hole in the chest and ended in the paunch.

He made may be 100 yards, bleeding profusely.

We sent the jack russell's that jumped him, outfitter and PH sent 3 solids that took guts.

I sent him 2 other TSX in the chest. He died in sight.

First shot was textbook. Given the right amount of time, he would have been dead at the end of his bloodtrail.

I'll be back just to prove myself that I can shoot one all by myself.

That's buffalo hunting.

I no longer have this rifle, I sold it and bought a BRNO 602 with a custom stock that looks awesome.
