If you do a full mount, find someone who knows what they are doing - even if you have to pay a little more. Cats are harder than canines, but canines can look pretty awful as well.

A full tanned fox skin can look pretty cool hanging from a hook in a corner, or draped over the back of a chair.

I'm with ActionBob on this. A rug might end up being 75% of the costs of a full mount. If you go with a very good commercial dry tan, being tubbed will costs extra normally. A tubbed skin can still be mounted later, but new cuts with have to be made to do so. Doing the belly skin and dry tan will still allow it to be mounted probably within 5 yrs of the tan if it's kept in a climate controlled environment. After that, it can be risky to rehydrate the skin.

I assume it's in the freezer at this point?
Yes, it is currently frozen. When you say belly skin and dry tan, is that like a flat skin?

Yes- cut up the belly line and out the underside of each leg resulting in being able to lay it flat. Dry tan will allow it to lay out while a wet tan has to be kept frozen until mounted. I was trying to use terminology that would be helpful if you were going to try and be the general contractor

Yep with the mouth open, it looks nice. I've got a couple just case skinned and tanned hanging around the house that I like too
Case skinned? Is that like tube skinned?

Hard to beat something simple

I’d tube skin it and hang it by the nose as others have suggested. The first pic is a couple of coyotes done that way. The second pic is a bear, flat skinned and hung by the nose.

Well, seems like I am a Vulpicide according to @Major Bonkers ,

Aside from that hanging from a hook looks cool if you want to keep that pelt hanging around.

Not sure what they might charge to do a body mount but apparently it's $1000 here. I was only talking to a mate this week who has some of his trophies taxidermied.

@CBH Australia
Chris that sounds a but hexy. To shoulder mount my Impala $750 and my kudu $1,200 which I think is expensive but then I'm as tight as a fishes are when it comes to money and that's water tight.

Do you think the hanging flat skin looks best, or tubed?

I’d tube the small critters, probably up to a wolf. Flat skin looks great on bears.

A number of my friends in Alaska had hide poles in their house. Basically a floor to ceiling tree trunk hung with hides. It looks really cool. I’m thinking of putting one in and hanging it with hides and European mounts. Every year I shoot bucks and do European mounts with them. It’s to the point that there’s just a pile of them in the corner of my reloading room.

@WAB any chance you have a pic or can source one to share.

I’ll see if a mate can send me a pic. Just picture a peeled tree trunk from floor to ceiling, hung with hides. Cedar works really well as you can leave stubs of branches for hanging hooks.

That is a very neat idea, I’d love to see it on a photo if possible!

Thanks @WAB ! That looks great!

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
