Hi, AH,

I have hundreds of once-fired 300 PRC brass. Some Lapua, some Hornady. It's all organized and very clean.

If anyone can give their advice on how best to sell these/how to price them, that would be much appreciated. I am based in CT.

Thank you.

A lot depends on how fast you want to move your product..

Typically when I put something up on AH, I start with a pretty low value.. Im most often just trying to get rid of something I don't need or use anymore and not trying to squeeze every penny I can out of it.. Im trying to make space on my reloading bench or inside my safe.. so time is worth more than money so to speak..

Others I see price things very fairly, but arent exactly offering a "great" deal initially.. but are willing to reduce pricing as needed to get things gone..

just depends on how you want to go after things..

A couple of things to note..

300 PRC is readily available from multiple sources like Midway, Midsouth, etc.. that is likely going to require you to price more "competitively".. (things that are super hard to find like 416 Taylor dies or 416 Taylor headstamped brass can usually be priced higher because supply is low and demand is high)..

Loaded 300 PRC ammo isn't that much more expensive than new 300 PRC brass... for example, you can buy a box of Hornady ELD-X factory ammo for $37.50 from deadeye ($1.88 a round).. 50 pieces of new (unfired) Hornady 300 PRC brass is $56.69 ($1.18 a round)..

There are quite a few 300 PRC shooters on AH.. but there are other forums that are more focused on long range shooting, long range hunting, etc that are probably the best options for selling if you have accounts there and are established within the community.. I think most 300 mag shooters on AH are likely 300 WM or 300 H&H guys.. which is also probably going to require you to come in a little low on pricing here (not going to be a whole lot of potential buyers racing to buy the brass..

Last factor to consider is how big/small of lots you want to sell.. For me, unless we're talking about something particularly hard to find, or something that is crazy expensive to purchase, Im generally not going to buy less than 50 pieces of brass.. Im not interested in something like a 20 count lot.. For most of my rifles that I load for I maintain a pile of at least 200 piece of brass... (I think Ive got 350 pieces of 300 PRC on hand).. What I don't want is a big assortment of 20 count lots that Ive bought over time from different people, that I cant easily track how many loads, how its been maintained, etc.. Usually on AH I get interested in 100 count lots or larger.. (Im not sure if others feel the same way or not about this)..

The cost of 300 PRC has come down quite a bit over the last 12 months.. I was paying about $47 a box for the ELD-X ammo just 12 months ago.. my guess is its probably bottomed out and wont get any cheaper.. but depending on when you bought the ammo you turned into once fired brass, its very possible its lost value recently since brass and ammo for the 300 PRC are both cheaper now than they have been prior..

For me, before I bought once fired brass, even from a trusted and reliable source, if the price wasn't SUBSTANTIALLY less than new brass, I'd likely just buy factory ammo and make my own "once fired" brass..
