Scratches on brass

My .02, remove scope, rings, and bases and send it back. Regardless of price, totally unacceptable.

Send it back
Bergara warranty is pretty good. I shipped 3 back this year already. Quality control could be better. But warranty is great. 2 rifles they replaced. One they just polished and repaired. Action was rough and not feeding well also.
One heat treatment on bolt was not right and lugs started deforming.

Sounds like a monster headache to me. Do they give refunds?

Note to whoever: Always thoroughly clean the entire new rifle before loading one round. Eliminate as many problems as possible as soon as possible.

You get what you pay for.

Try a Merkel, Heym, Krieghoff, Blaser, you name it....

... a Sabatti, a Remlin!!!

Most of the CZ 550 you had to give to your gunsmith before you even touch it.

Looks like I might be sending it back. The good news is I can leave the base on and the scope is easy to take off because of the seekins ring design. I can actually leave the rings on the scope and they aren’t affected by me taking the rings off the base. I am impressed with the seekins rail and rings. Very very solid.

Ouch, that is not good to hear about Bergara, not good at all.

Not necessarily. I've never had a problem with any of my CZ rifles. Merkel, Heym, Krieghoff and Blaser aren't immune from issues. Don't be a gun snob.

Justin, the second you attempt to fix this on your own, your warranty will be voided. Even though it is a PITA send it back! It only takes a few minutes to remove and reinstall a scope and bases. I had a similar but not identical issue with a secondhand rifle purchased off eBay (not a Bergara.) When I sent photos of the brass to their repair center they said, "send us the rifle." In a week I had a brand new one.

I am going to ship it back. Already have the RMA.

I had the same issue with my Bergara BA 13 TD after I gave it away for cerakoting. Shot five or six rounds and everything was fine again.

You are right.... but a lot of people have problems with this cheap guns.

I do not want to be a gun snob, but my compassion is limited when cheap guns fail.

Probably need to go back, but what does a new clean cartridge chambered just One Time look like?

I think the issue is from bolt up through the feed channel and not actually in the barrel. But not sure. If I just threw a bullet in the barrel and ejected out. Just did that 10 times. No scratches. As soon as I put the bullet in the mag and then work the bolt to chamber in barrel. The scratching starts. My gut tells me it is a two part issue when you factor in the jamming. The scratching I think is coming from the feed ramp in two different areas.

Yes. Chambered - starting with the cartridge in the magazine box is an obvious. Orientated with a mark on top of the case (sharpie pen) would be of benefit as well.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.
