HISTORY: In 1999 SCI acquired 100 of the Ruger 1H .416 Rigby rifles. On the left side of the receiver was engraved "Safari Club International Limited Edition # of 100. This one is 28 of 100. On the right side of the receiver is engraved "Year of the Rhino" with an engraving of the animal below it. On the bottom rear of the forearm is the emblem of Safari Club International in gold leaf.

I found this rifle in October, 2013 in a pawn shop in Pensacola, Florida. It 'appeared' to be new and never fired. I bought the gun at this time. In December, 2013 my son and I fired one box (20 rounds) of Fusion 400 grain ammo out of it. I do not remember the type of bullet other than it was 400 grains. Later that month, the rifle was cleaned, placed in a silicone gun sock and went into the back of my safe. There it remained until 2 years ago, when my eye sight deteriorated to the point I can not shoot with open rifle sights any longer. I ordered a high visibility front sight from New England Custom Guns to see if it would help. I removed the factory front sight blade and tried to install the high visibility blade. It does not fit and would need grinding for it to do so. I never had that done. The original blade has remained in the safe in a plastic bag until a few days ago when I re-installed it on the rifle. That sight blade now has rust on it which you can see in the last attached photo.

The rifles were acquired by SCI to sell or give to their chapters to auction off to raise money. I only found one document through an internet search where that actually occurred at a Montana chapter in the fall of 1999.
About two years ago, I called SCI HQ in Arizona to see if they had any more information on any of these 100 rifles but specifically #28. I talked to three different people, but no one had any idea what I was talking about. So I no longer pursued that avenue for information.

Since I bought a RSM Rigby about 6 months after the 1h, I have only taken the RSM to the range. The 1H stays safe bound. It has never been taken hunting and only to the range one time. The pictures will speak for themselves.

I have decided to post this rifle for sale. I am asking $1500. There is no box nor scope rings. The folding front sight is adjustable and as of 2013 was zeroed for 50 yards. I will send the rifle to your FFL, first placed in a bore stor and then into a Plano case, then the Fedex approved box. I will accept most any form of payment, but if you choose to send a personal check, I will hold the rifle until the check clears the bank.

Pity no box or papers. Still, I think you priced it very fairly for what it is. I have no doubt this nice gun won't last long on this site. Friends, where else will you find a beautifully built, lightweight .416 for that kind of money?

Beautiful rifle my friend!
Thanks for the views and interest!

I am lowering the asking price down to $1200. The only other addition I have to the original post is that I have a set of 1 inch Ruger rings to go with the rifle.

I may have spare Ruger #1 rings. If someone buys the rifle on AH and they need an offset or a 30mm ring, PM me pos sale and I'll look. Should I have what you need, I'll give them to you.

Thanks RH, will do. I am well aware that anyone mounting a scope on this caliber will most likely want a 30 mm tube scope. Will pass on to you immediately if someone decides to buy it!

This rifle has been sent to Gulf Breeze Firearms in Gulf Breeze, Florida for consignment sale. It will be available after a 15 day holding period. If anyone on the forum wants contact info for GBF, pm me and I will send you the name of the FFL holder and his business contact information. Thanks for your interest!

Oh, my yearning heart..... a combination of one of the most beautiful rifles of the 20th Century, the near-ultimate African caliber, and SCI affiliation: what more could one ask for... better hurry up, guys, or this ole Aussie might just succumb to the temptation....

Oops! Here goes: I'm VERY interested indeed; and I have contacted an Aussie import specialist to initiate a deal. More info as soon as ....
Geoff Rath

Geoff, thanks for the interest, but I have no way of exporting a firearm to another country. I will be happy to sell it to you if your Australian importer can work it out. I can tell you this though. I have imported from England and am working on another import from England. The importation cost is a minimum of $1000 and could be much more in addition to the $1200 price for the rifle....Good luck to you and me!!!

Thanks VERY much; I'll let the importer know that the present holder is in Zim (lucky fella), and ask him to give you details of his FFL holder. meantime, funds to arrange.....
If we ever meet up, this must be worth a good whisky or three, if that suits....
Geoff

Geoff, don't see a question, but the current price is $1200. I lowered it about a month ago.
