Scent Blocking

For several years I have used an Ozonics unit....I have had many many deer, coyotes, bobcats, etc walk right past me at under 20 yards downwind and never run. At most, the animal has just looked around and went back to walking or feeding. My hunting buddies that have also used the Ozonics unit have reported the same results.
Same experience.

I have a black bear hunt this year with my son and we are wondering-buy a scent lock suit, or use sprays? We will be in a high seat. What has worked for you? Rifle hunt by the way.
I have used it all during my deer hunting days, sprays, carbon suits covering everything but my eyes, etc. My findings were simple but consistent…if you are directly upwind, the animal will still smell you…where i believe it absolutely helped me with some nice deer to show for the scent work is with a swirling wind…I was not detected…a huge caveat…i was also 20 feet up a tree to be clear not on the ground

There is no such thing as scent blocking. You may be able to reduce the amount of your scent stream but you can’t block it. Man has been hunting the wind for thousands of years and for good reason.

An ozone generator will work with deer. It will not work with pigs. I don’t know about bears but they are in the pig family so it might not work on bears.

I was in The back of the Bakkie, bouncing along in the converted truck bed on a road. I stood there, hanging on…knowing I had two trackers behind me…my PH doing the driving and my wife to my right…

The trackers…they were smoking rolled up newsprint…no joke, even in 2014…

The wind was in my face…they were no more than 4 (FOUR) feet…barely meter…behind me. I was in the front, they were in the back…of a 5’ long pick up truck bed. Four feet separated us…

I couldn’t smell a thing. Not one thing.

Wind Direction…even a two or three miles per hour. Yeah, it was a real reality check.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
