Sauer 100 Black in 9.3x62

I nearly pulled the pin on a Sauer 100 Ceratech in 7mm-08 in the spring but hesitated just a little too long. When I went back to the shop she was gone.

I can honestly say, the Sauer 100 has a three lug bolt head, and is one of the easiest three lug bolts to lift and smooth to operate out of the Ruger American, Thompson Center Venture, and even the Browning A-Bolt I had. If I tilt the muzzle up, the bolt freely wants to drop, that’s how smooth it is.
In all honesty, I would highly recommend you getting a Sauer 100. They are so worth the money!

I think there a nice looking rifle, much better the other adorable rifles. I like the Talley lightweights on my m18 mauser.

sights would be cool.

The Mauser M18 is almost an exact copy of my Sauer 100!

Yes, Talley rings and bases are superb too!

Yup not much difference, I like the m18 bolt better both stocks are nice but like the Sauer better. The mauser stock feels good and the Compartment is nice but you can't shorten the lop unless they make different butts, even then only a 1/4-1/2 shorter is possible. My m18 6.5 prc no joke a one hole gun, shot a nice little buck with it last season.

I was seriously looking at a Mauser 18, but couldn’t find one in 9.3x62. That’s why I went with the Sauer. Yes, the Sauer stock feels really good, and the drop from center of the bore is almost non existent, so the recoil forces come straight back into the shoulder, instead of being forced down, and not slapping a persons cheek when it’s touched off, like some magnum rifles do when fired.
Anyways, I’m very happy with my rifle.

Very little recoil from my m18, I prefer a 13.5" lop or even a tad less for winter but the 14" lop feels fine on the mauser since the stock fits good . I tried to get a ruger in 9.3x62 every time I saw one I was broke, I'm building on in a 09 Argentine now and hope I can keep from cheaping out to much, I'll try saving money were I can but really want this rifle to be nice.

Did some test shots with the 09 today just to check everything was working good, shot better then I hoped with the pitting in the bore and may kill a deer with it since it maybe many months to get a barrel.

That’s what I think I’m going to like about the stock design, it mitigates recoil a lot. So one can shoot bigger calibers and have them not kick the living snot out of you while doing so.
Now, just an example, I used to have a Ruger M77 in .300 Win Mag that had a poorly designed stock, and it would eat my lunch every time I shot it. I couldn’t wait to get rid of that thing. Then I got a Weatherby Vanguard, and it had a Monte Carlo style stock, and it was a .300 Weatherby, and that was actually comfortable to shoot.
Glad you’re out shooting your 09!
Pitting usually doesn’t effect accuracy, unless it has a lot of it.

It’ll be worth the wait.

Ya it will, few more weeks of so after I'll have the money to order a stock. All winter to do any other work to the action and bottom metal.
I stumbled upon an old abused Zastava M70 8x57JS at a pawn shop, 1st commercial Mauser I’ve ever owned. They let it go for next to nothing. It shot well enough but since I have an excellent 8x57JS already I thought yeabudy here we go! Ordered the barrel and the rest is history. Quickly became my favorite caliber and regardless of what they may sayers spout, it’ll kill anything and everything on earth.

Amen to that!!

That’s what I like about the cartridge too! It will kill anything on this planet.

A 2-7 scope on a 9.3x62 makes it a little bit more versatile and you can really get away with it being the perfect one rifle caliber for the bushveld. Any shot from 5-200m on anything from Duiker to Buff.

The Sauer 101 is really an evolution of one of my first hunting rifles, the Sig SHR970. I had one in .30-06 and sold it to a mate who is coming hunting with me in 3 weeks time. I'll get to shoot it a little on the range. I'll be using the LH Zastava 9.3 ;)

It shoots MOA or better with EVERY load tried in it, it is unnaturally accurate. The way the bolt locks directly into the barrel is part of this accuracy recipe and I'm sure the S101 is the same.

I ordered one of these to play around with. How does yours shoot? Does it feed well? How about accuracy?
Where did you get it?
