Want to sell: Sako Finnbear AV Deluxe with Leupold VX3 15.5 x 20 Scope, Bases, and Rings.
I bought this exceptional Sako on consignment from Scheels Reno. I’m certain it was new or at least not hunted. I bought a new Leupold VX-3 1-5.5 x 20 scope, sighted it in, and hunted it on one Safari in 2014. It went on Safari with me to RSA where I took a Buff, Giraffe, Sable, and Zebra with it. Then put it back in the safe. I would be surprised if it has more than 20 Rounds through it…
It has very light handling marks from the one hunt. Those can (likely) be buffed out. I didn’t bother trying. It functioned flawlessly and is super accurate. I’ve replaced it with a LH SAKO 85 in .375 H&H. Time to make room for more LH rifles. It is a beautiful example and I don't have a nicer rifle than this!
@BeeMaa found one for sale back in 2023 (It must have sold) "I found one for sale (on consignment) in 375H&H in similar condition for $2849. I'm not an expert on gun values, but I'd expect something in this ballpark." I'm not sure if it had a scope
I found one on (Guns Intr) that has, what should be a close description of the rifle, or at least similar. It was already sold.
Manufacturer: Between 1985-1989
Caliber Info: .375 H&H Magnum
Chambers: Bolt action
Metal Condition: Excellent- little to no marks or blemishes.
Wood Condition: Excellent- a couple light handling marks (See all picture close ups)
Bore Condition: Excellent- clean, sharp rifling.
Barrels: 23 inch

Stock: Checkered deluxe Maple with Rosewood tip and grip cap

Based on the serial number 65xxxx, your Sako Finnbear AV Deluxe .375 H&H rifle likely falls into the production range of the 1980s.
Here's why:

Based on the serial number 65xxxx, your Sako Finnbear AV Deluxe .375 H&H rifle likely falls into the production range of the 1980s.
Here's why:
- The Finnbear was the marketing name for Sako's long-action L61R rifles, and this extended informally to the later AIII and AV models.
- The AV designation indicates a specific modification made to the L61R long action, which occurred in 1981 for the standard L61R and 1982 for the L61R Magnum.
- While Sako's records are not always precise, the serial number 653724 suggests a production timeframe within the 1980s when the AV action was in production, from around 1981 to 1992.
- The "Deluxe" designation indicates the rifle has features such as a contrasting fore-end, checkering, a butt cap, and engraving on the bottom plate and trigger guard.
