Safari boots and brands !!!

I like Wildebees, Sporloos

Two trips I have worn Crispi lightweight hikers with no problems with thorns or anything else.

A lot can depend on where you are hunting.

Lately I’ve been wearing crocs or tennis shoes for most of my African Hunting, maybe the occasional Salomon or Merrell hiking boot.

I’ve worn Courtney’s and Jim Greens in the past, both with and without insoles. Neither maker seems to fit my foot right and after a few days my feet are destroyed. I’ve owned 3-4 pairs of each and every time end-up selling them or giving them away.

I had the exact same problem. Here is what fixed me; I knew I was going to Zim for a hunt. I knew my PH could bring me my new Courtney Boots direct from their plant to the camp. I called Gail and told her I needed a boot width somewhere between their D and EEE given either extreme hurt my feet. I also wanted to have my elephant skin for the boots given I could not get them shipped into the US. All the above happened. Also, as I shared in a previous post, I was so stupid I did not understand that the Courtney polish was actually saddle soap and is made to use every day as you break in the boots to soften them up and help them fit your foot...I thought it was just polish. With all the above and a high arch orthotic bought separately and not from Courtney I now have some incredible boots that I hope to wear forever.

do you just call or show up he doesn't really have much on his site

I have several pair of those, but prefer the Hood winter light for hunting. Less insulation and a little lower and lighter.

Depends on where in RSA. I took hiking boots and need Teva's or flip flops instead. All sand. One PH in Zimbabwe wears Crocs. Don't over think what you need to buy.

GoRuck MacV-2... They are like having air on your feet.

Exactly!

I have checked out Courtney and Jim Green boots and they just don't work for me. For tough mountain hunts, I have Danner, Kenetrek and Meindl. But for most everything I've done in Africa, a simple, unlined, leather boot will work. It's hard to fine this type of boot, without a Gore-Tex lining. I opted for an Irish Setter work boot. They were reasonably priced, comfortable and the sole was perfect for walking sandy, dry river beds in Namibia. I felt like I was walking on the beach in Florida! The only thing I didn't like about them were the white color of the sole. I took a black Sharpie and made the edge black.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
